Installed the whoosh cross over pipe, though I’d be cool and save some time but not taking the cowl off........just take it off if you’re wondering. The fit is tits, no data yet on temps until I can get some seat time tomorrow View attachment 21183 View attachment 21184

I almost considered leaving the cowl on as well, but did what I usually do when taking something apart: watch YouTube tutorial like 4 times about it.

It honestly isn't as bad as I expected, especially once you figure out how to out the headlights back in one try(thanks @jeff).

That turbo inlet swap murdered my arms and hands though. Getting the dang bolts back in place in a spot you can barely see sucks majorly.

I'd love to hear back about how the heat wrap works out for you. If it makes any substantial change I may give it a shot. I got the whoosh powder coated black crossover so not sure if it holds heat more than the red just due to the color and material.

Wouldn't that only matter if it was being heated by sunlight? If it's internal heat or engine bay heat does the color matter?

Finished a Catch can install today (yesterday, actually). I bought a universal one off eBay and put together my own mounting brackets and hoses using an oem-style pcv hose (rockauto) so the couplings remain the same on the intake manifold. The bracket mount is a bit wobbly so I’ll have to reinforce some how..but it seems to hold it in place. I like the finished product. View attachment 21181
I'd recommend lowering the can so that it's level with or below the pcv valve; otherwise it's fighting gravity. There's plenty of vacuum pressure, so it might not be a problem, but I'd be concerned about fluid collecting in the hose.

Big Mouth Air intake install....not as easy as one is led to believe. Taking off the front bumper...simple, but time consuming busy work. Cutting the air shroud so it can fit through the front grill area...measure three times, cut once. Putting the nut on the back side of the one screw that holds it place...damn near impossible if you have larger than medium size hands. That took just as long as it took to take off the front bumper, and then some. Hindsight: I am not a big fan of the "motlen orange" they say that color is on the intake. It doesn't show in the picture much different, but in person, it is more of a true orange than a red-orange. Think I would have gone for red, or maybe yellow to match the gold flak in the paint..? Looking at the air intake compartment area, I did happen to notice (and some of you might have, as well) that there is no real fresh air from outside "air intake" other than the air that is just floating around in the engine bay. Was I missing something?

That horizantal support bar/bracket just underneath the big mouth is unsightly. Any solutions? Paint it black?

I don't think anyone cares about the Crash bar sensor bracket not being black...but hey if you wanna get fancy by all means ...go for it!

Ya, I wondered about that after installing it. Like you said, the vaccum would likely be enough but don't wanna risk condensation flowing back into the crankcase.

I can see what you're talking about with the color. It doesn't look too off st first glance but looking closely you can see it's not really a close match.

Oil change is probably the single easiest maintenance job you can do on the FiST, especially if you install the Fumoto valve.
AGREED, if you discount the horizontally oriented filter, which spills all over everything when removed (I PACK the whole filter mount area with paper towels in anticipation of this [mad]). [:(]

Installed some Rally Armor Flaps, took me about 2 hours, so much hardware to install these lol
WHY when I swap in some larger SMS rally spec mud flaps I am going to just use the existing hardware of the already installed Rally Armors, and the Rally Armor flaps themselves as 'templates' for where to drill the holes in the new flaps. [wink] [thumb]

There's that. I put down a tray or, if as it is on the lift when I do this, one of these upright oil catch basins with a canister underneath. I just let it too and once the dripping stopped, I wipe it down.

I painted mine black as well as the crash bar after I shaved the grill. I masked off the radiator and hit the bars with some self etching primer and topped it with satin black.

Finally got what I think is the last piece of my intake puzzle: velocity stack for the end of the ST200 hose. The 2.5 inch diameter was almost a bit too tight but I made it work after tugging at the fabric for a while. Putting the headlight on while finding a spot for the dome was the hard part, ended up being able to place it closer to the fog light luckily(Pic was after attaching hose clamp) but it took a while for a good placement. Glad to now be fully upgraded from turbo elbow all the way to the ST200 hose though. 20190620_184833.jpg 20190620_185426.jpg 20190620_185508.jpg

The orientation of the air horn doesn't matter? I thought that the name of the game was to induce laminar flow in the radiused funnel and to avoid turbulence. Wouldn't the upright position defeat that?

I moved it further down but couldn't get a good Pic of it. It's closer to the fog light and not upright in the final result. This is after having attached the stack.

How is it different from, say, Velossa's "big mouth"? I understand the notion of the increased air pressure and all that jazz, but in the end this is about having smooth flow of air through the intake pathway. What would this do that's different - seems that it is easier to install the BM....

It doesn't have the benefit of the forward motion ramming air into the intake that the big mouth does, since its placed on the grill of the car and una more open space.

The purpose it serves is to basically smooth the flow of the air entering from the cold air hose. For just under 30 bucks I thought it was worth a shot as opposed to the price of a BM and see if it makes a difference.

Your turbo is ramming in air. Just help it by giving it unabated air flow with dual points of entry. Don’t waterboard your intake 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️😀

It's OK I'm in CA, there's not enough water to hydrolock if I tried.
