You had any issues with cops detecting your detector?

Cops usually don't say shit....you just have to know where you can't utilize a detector because it's illegal and they confiscate it and fine you sometimes....oh I have one in my FiST and Typhoon....v-1 also.

When I had my FiST and now with my FoST I've been stopped twice by law enforcement with no issues. My escort attaches to my mirror.

The mount is a blend mount. More expensive than the eBay mounts, but they don't rust like the eBay one I bought. I have one for both cars I drive.

I just use the visor clip. I have the wires routed up the sides and tucked into the headliner. Those mirror mounts, tho allowing the detector a better view of the road, put the detector where it can be easily seen from outside the car, or by the constabulary. With it tight up against the visor, tho it is not in easy line of sight, it is nearly undetectable from the outside. This way I don't have to take it down every time I park the car.... In fact, I had and intruder (thief) get into my car (I had left it unlocked?) one night. They took the mtune, (worthless to anyone but me, of course) but completely missed the existence of the detector. No policeman looking in the side window will (giving me a ticket?) will be able to spot it unless they get down on their knees and look for it. ... Granted, I can no longer use the visor for its intended use, so I keep a ball cap on the center console for when I need one.

Hey, I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to say thanks!
I did this on my 2018 FiST this weekend and your write-up helped me so much, and it looks so much sleeker than the bundle o' wires I had hanging off the rearview before haha

I just used this thread to wire up my V1, took me less than 30 minutes. Thanks to the OP!!!

No more coiled wire going down to the 12V outlet.

Thanks for posting this, now I know how to route the wires for an Incident Camera.

BTW if you are in Fairfax, VA I do hope that you have a scheme to hide that radar detector quickly because they are illegal in VA. While it appears you've chosen a position that will pretty much hide it to a roadside speed stakeout I suspect that if you are pulled over the cop will be taking a close look at whatever is visible as he approaches your car.

While we're bringing up this old thread, I would say I believe this method puts the wire in front of the side curtain airbag. It's better to pull the A-pillar trim and run the cable behind the airbag, I think, so as not to interfere with its operation or turn the wire or your radar detector into a high speed projectile if you get in an accident.
