3.5 lbs per wheel is 14lbs of rotational unsprung mass but one has to look at tire weight as well to ensure really saving weight as tires can vary wildly as well.

For those that just don't care then so be it, my posts are geared towards those that just do not know to consider such things and most do not.

In my particular case I went from stock 22 or so lb wheels to 11.4 lb wheels and tires that weight about the same as stock but have a lot more tread on the ground and much stickier, I save over 40lbs of weight in the most critical place to do so. That is on my all season setup, my summer only setup wheels are 13.4lbs but 9" wide!

Brake rotors are easy if you know how to drill a hole as a cheap drill press or hand drill will suffice to drill stock rotors or aftermarket.

I have seen many rotors with extra holes and some aluminum rotor hats with as holes all around on them, there is very little shear load if any on the studs so 4 extra holes are not a concern on the rotors or hubs.

I do understand finding wheels you like is a hassle with the dumb stock bolt pattern on this car:(

Well, I'm on the search for wheels again?!? What do you guys think about the Borbet CW1's? They have that "RS look" I think. Hyper Silver so I think they may look pretty awesome on my Ingot Silver FiST?!?

These really are growing on me more and more. Very RS like and I have a source that can make the stock like blue Ford center caps made out of domed aluminum.

Those are 205/50/15s, they are almost the same outer diameter as stock.
Yes, I was looking at the 195/55-15s. They have the closest circumference to stock with tires available. Only about one revolution less per mile.

I like how yours look though and I was curious how it would compare. If I get a 15x8 wheel, I might consider using that size also.

^^^Not bad, but I want to use a tire that is at least a little bit TALLER THAN OEM size, NOT even .1" shorter than stock height.

(Unless I am properly lowering the car A LOT, which is the ONLY scenario where I would consider a 225/45-15 on a 15x8 at this point, and NOT on a stock suspension! [wink])

Just purchased some Charcoal 15x8 6ul wheels with tires from a local here in Hawaii. I'll have the hub redrilled and wheels mounted this weekend. :) I'll post pics as soon as I can with them mounted. I know there were a lot of people that wanted to see them. And I'll also be going to a 15x9 or even 15x10 in the near future with some modded fender flares.

For race (I know you said there is not much action there, save for autocrosses), with 245/40-15 Hoosier A/R7 gumballs on them, or for street use with some stretched 225/45-15 100, or 200 tread wear deals on them?

If I get 15x9 I will use 225/45-15, if I got with 15x10 I'm still not sure. But the 15x10s I'd have a set for street and a set for race. I fell the 15x8 will suffice for street use here. Until I get more power. I may need to get the wider ones sinner than expected. But for now 205/50-15

Here are some better pictures to give an idea of the new stance and look of the wheel ( 17 x 7.5, +40 offset ) The grip around corners is immense with the added width. I thought it was good before, but now it's great.

Looks really good it seems like certain patterns on 15's make the wheel look not so small. Some of the wheels look like roller skates like someone mentioned lol.

Thank you! And yes, I noticed the same thing. The spoke/wheel design has a lot to do with how small or large the wheels looks. a stepped lip, or a wheel that has the spokes stop before coming to a edge of a rim will look smaller than those without a stepped lip and spokes that go to the end of the lip. also, typically a wheel with a "deep lip" wheel look smaller as well. I feel these hit the sweet spot. Once i get some better photos I will be sure to let you guys see. These were just quick shots right after installation. My BC coils still need to settle a little bit as well but so far so good.

Thank you! I really like the looks of these much more than I thought I would. There was a miata guy here on oahu that was selling these wheels practically brand new with tires for a killer deal, so I made the jump and picked them up and did the conversion.

They ride SO MUCH BETTER than the 17s. its much nicer to ride around on the 15s. Although i feel its my tires(not my choice but were free with the wheels) the turn-in is a little less sharp, but the front end and whole car feels a ton lighter. I couldn't believe how much less effort it takes to move the car now. and The turn-in response could have a lot to do with my newly setup BC Coils that I don't have dialed in yet due to still breaking them in and settling.

Thanks! I'm really starting to get personal with the car. I'm really liking the way it is coming out. Up until recently I wasn't totally satisfied with efr kit... But then Ron at DHM was able to get the EFR to spool about 300rpms faster consistently. and we have seen some pulls in 3rd where 20psi comes on as early as 3500rpm and 4th gear 20psi as early as 3300rpm. we are currently at the limit of the stock fuel system at only 22psi. Aux fuel system has been ordered, and I have already talked with Russ about ordering a few more things before we start really pushing this even further. I would be happy with 370, but i'm sure DHM will put me in a good place to be with the EFR kit. Next spring I plan on doing a full Build and hopefully maxing out the EFR kit completely(440-450whp) and using the same 6UL wheels but in the 15x10 version with some flares. but I just want to focus on the Aux fuel first, then settling the car in on the way I want it to look/function. Then I will start the long hard process of MOAR POWA and MOAR TIRE! haha

I too love BW turbos. always have. but it seems as though Garrett turbos have something up their sleeve to surpass the technology of the BW turbos. we will see soon enough as i believe someone in the forum has one in their possession... I may swap out if so... but then again, this turbo maxes out right around where I want my max power level to be, with an 8k rpm rev limit.
