It'll rub. 205s rub on some cars that are lowered.
215 or maybe 225 would be the max on an 8 before you start getting too much sidewall. And I'd be looking at like, a 40 series, imo.
205/50 is the best we can do as far as maintaining tire height, sidewall rigidity and treadwidth. 215/45 would be awesome, but would likely rub at lower than stock height without fender work.
^^^IF this is really the case, then I give up on 15x8s, and will stick with my 17x8s with a 215/40 on them.
I am NOT looking for MAXIMAL, all-out track
perfection, if I were, yes, I would find the absolute most ZERO weight wheels I could put on the car (yup, even if it meant having to do the hub conversion I so despise) which still clear the biggest front brakes I would need, and then put a set of 00 tread wear slicks on them (or at least 40-100 tread wear gummies).
A 200 tread wear tire, NOT 'stancer stretched' on a medium weight, but strong wheel is MORE THAN I will EVER need, or be able to use on the street, and yes, it does look pretty mean as well.
