Any updated dyno numbers? Curious...
I've had to calm down the FiST building lately, suffice to say I am having some issues with the 93 octane Cobb tune again. I switched back to the 91 octane tune and it's like instant difference. I did some 50-70 mph acceleration tests and the 91 tune is 1.5 seconds quicker (that is substantial). Watching the timing advance on the 93 tune (on cylinder #1), whenever I go WOT it is pulling (actually retarding) a ton of timing, especially with throttle tip in (this explains the power dip in my dyno runs at 2400-2500 rpm). This is main reason my car has felt dead on the bottom lately. The 91 tune does NOT do this and just pulls so much more consistently with no timing being pulled. I'm amazed at the difference in torque steer in 2nd gear too...

What a thread... just finished reading to this point...

pelotonracer2, what is the purpose of the small breather right next to your FSWerks green filter?
Like Colin said, It keeps hot oily air from entering the intake.

I knew I wasnt goin butt dyno.crazy. 91 does feel more responsive and powerfull than 93. Left mine on 93 for 2 weeks but find it hard to believe it takes that long for the ecu to learn. Im gonna switch back to 91 right now. Thanks Pman

Yeah, I don't care what a freaking dyno says... if the car is quicker or slower (for whatever reason) that's all I care about. LOL [thumb]

All the 50 mph to 70 mph acceleration tests were performed in 5th gear (under substantial load). I did approximately 8 each. ALL 8 of the 91 acceleration runs were quicker than any of the 93 runs. That alone speaks for itself. [wink]

I was getting worried brother[grinking]
No worries mate. I get a bit depressed when "car progression" gets "stalled". I had to figure out a few issues with my FiST and think I've found and corrected my shoes-of-ish. hahaha. You get moved yet bud?

I'm back...

So, I'm finally back at it after a long time off from the forums. I've added some new stuff to my car and making even more changes in the near future. I'm sure by now most of this has probably already been discussed but I'm going to update my build thread anyways. [paranoid]

FSWERKs quick shift

I installed the FSWERKs quick shift kit a few days ago. Without a doubt the best mod to date! I was hesitant to do this with other companies quick shift kits based on the difficulty (PITA) of the installation and some other issues people were having. Also I couldn't justify the cost (especially the Mountune). After carefully looking at the FSWERKs design and gaining feedback from others, I decided to buy one and installed it on my Fiesta ST. Since I already have the FSWERKs intake, this literally took me about 10 minutes to install. There is a lot more room to work than with the factory airbox. All I had to do is remove the Green conical filter and remove the separating isolation plate and I had perfect access to the trans link. Installation is easier if you pull the cable towards you (placing the gear selector into first gear). I opted for the 25% reduction which is *absolutely* perfect. Hands down the best (and easiest) modification for the Fiesta ST so far. The shifting "feel" is tightened up significantly with the shorter gates, with more direct solid shifting. This car should have come this way. [raceflag]

Welcome back, man! Since you've been gone, I've gotten my car and spent wads of money track-prepping it, making various custom adjustments (with the help of a local shop and an awesome dealer tech), and, well, fixing mistakes. There are a couple of insane builds on here.

Cobb Tuning rear motor mount

The Cobb rear motor mount was the next logical step. Although I have not really driven the car hard yet, this modification noticeably (positively) effects shift quality and "appears" to help with initial tip in throttle response and traction. Coupled with the FSWERKs quick shift kit, this (subjectively) has changed the overall driveability of the car for the better. As others have previously stated, NVH has gone up a bit, especially at idle with the air conditioning on but I kind of like it (reminds me of my cammed Mustang 5.0 days LOL). The RMM will play a bigger role once I increase power further.

Cobb Tuning lower springs

At this point I had to make a decision. Am I going to keep this car beyond the lease term or am I going to get a new car? I think I'm just going to keep it. I really really disliked the SUV wheel gap of my car, but didn't know if I wanted to invest in a good set of coil-overs or try my luck again with lowering springs. In the past I've almost always gravitated towards lowering my vehicles with lowering springs. Unfortunately most "modern" vehicles manufactured today don't have factory adjustable camber so my last couple of cars have developed camber issues. I don't want to invest in camber kits. I put a set of Corksport mild drop springs on my 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 and began to have excessive camber on the front. The only solution was to buy high dollar camber kits that required extensive modification of the strut/shock mounting. I just didn't want to do that. As a result, I was having to buy new tires every 10,000 miles. With the Fiesta ST I once again decided to take my chances and go the cheaper route. I decided on a progressive rate Cobb specific Eibach lowering spring for this car since it only lowers the front 0.8 inch and 0.7 inch rear (that's significantly less than the drop on my MS3). There also seems to be camber kits for the Fiesta ST that doesn't require an arm, a leg or your first born child (and no extensive ie: permanent) modification to the strut/shock towers. I had Cobb install the springs and then do an alignment. After the alignment, the camber specs were still in the acceptable stock range. Hopefully it will stay that way... lol. Experience tells me that after a few thousand miles camber issues can sometimes rear their ugly head.

I have to say, I'm really impressed with the ride quality. I would even go as far as saying it is an "improvement"over stock with noticeably less body roll and ride height. Where the springs really seem to shine is in steering response and feedback. There is a noticeable, albeit subtle on/off center steering feedback improvement which dare I say, gives my car "BMW" steering "feel". People who have driven early 2000's model BMW M3s will understand what I am talking about. Steering tightens up much more just off center and you get much better response and feel. I was not expecting that much of a difference.

The subtle lowering really sharpens up the way the car looks too, especially with my new wheels....I really love the new stance! [lovecobb]

Sport Edition gunmetal SE-16 wheels

While I liked the 17 x 7.5 inch Sport Tuning T9 wheels I purchased from Tire Rack back in December 2013, some nicer choices have finally come out that I like better. While the in-house Tire Rack "Sport Edition" brand has received some negative feedback (all regarding softness and bending of rims) the $488.00 price (for four wheels) means that if I don't like them long term, I'll just buy another set of rims. I chose 17 x 7.5 inch, 42 offset, gunmetal Sport Edition SE-16s with new 215/40-17 Dunlap Direzza ZII "star spec" tires. I originally had Dunlap Direzza ZII's in the same size and they lasted 23,000 miles. The star spec have a bit harder compound 200 wear rating v.s. the non star spec ZII's 180). The SE-16s are a pound lighter per corner than the old set as well. I do *LOVE* the style, look and offset of these new wheels on my car especially since lowering it (I essentially did it all at once).

These stay cleaner longer (break dust doesn't accumulate on them as bad and when you get some on them you can't see it... heh). [thumb] They are also easier to clean.

Brisk RR14YS Silver plugs

Having had some issues in the past with knock using my AP V3 stage 1 93 octane tune, I decided to try Brisk one step colder plugs. I bought a few sets of 4 and found 4 plugs that pointed in the right direction so no washers were needed. Not only does the engine run smoother, this also got rid of the dip in power I was experiencing at WOT (noticeable on the road AND on the dyno). I gapped them all to .030 and they seem to work great. Better idle quality, improved throttle response and better fuel economy were also side benefits. In my opinion these plugs should come with the Cobb AP V3.

Coming up...

What's next? I'm just waiting for a Cobb intercooler to show up at their Plano, Texas location and then I plan on going full Stage 3 (down pipe and intercooler). I'll start tweaking the stage 3 OTS tune via the Accesstuner race. I'm still in love with the 3" Scorpion exhaust system but I need to have the tips extended about 2 inches. The exhaust gasses are hot enough to partially melt my rear valence. The good news is, this should not be difficult to do AND the valence is not noticeable unless you put the car on a lift. It would also be nice to be able to see the tips. Right now they are tucked too far in. I'm definitely getting the Cobb front and rear sway bars at the same time as the Stage 3 kit. ATP turbo kit? Maybe. [;)]
