I'd buy a GTX2554 Gen2.
If Garrett built one. Lol.
But yea, the problem has been the same for a while. No one makes a top level turbo for 300whp.
EFR is too laggy/big. GT2554 can't make the power. GTX2560 too laggy/big.
DHM GTX2860 Gen2 kit is the best I've seen by far. It's just not cheap.

I spoke to a couple of tuners here on the Tele and 2 out of the 3 said the GT2554r can make close to 300whp on e30...obviously less on 93 and 91. There are a couple members that i have also spoken to about their GT2554r and said dont believe what others say that have never owned one. It's always heresay.....i was told I couldn't do a 20g turbo with a 2600 stall in my Typhoon. Worked out great and better than expected even by others who rode in it before and after. Get the supporting mods...experiment and get what you like.....like I've always said.....To go nowhere follow the crowds!

Well... this is supposed to be "custom" Garrett.
I've been hearing rumors today that a 2554R with a custom compressor wheel is their plan.

another option is good no matter how many people belly ache about it

I'm anxious to see what the details are...

Mountune parts aren't for everyone but I can say every part I have from them so far is pretty damn sweet[werd]

I will be interested as long as it's "street legal". I wonder if it will meet CARB, or just 49 state, assuming it is good for the street.

Good news and this is right in-line with everything they stated so far. I highly doubted they were going to go with an EFR considering the 6258 is a pretty perfect match for the 2.0. I'm not sure why some people think this kit will be crazy priced and not worth it. If we go off the MRX FoST kit you would be led to believe the opposite and pretty much the best value BT upgrade on the market.

My only problem is this, FUEL. The X-47 seems to be hitting the fuel limit and still has some left in it. This is kind of the best case scenario upgrading a turbo car with spool and power being equal goals. This shows you now have reached a new roadblock so going bigger will only yield minimal gains unless the issue of fuel is addressed. So if things like the C39 and X-47 didn't exist while being so damn good, then this kit makes sense.

We will have to see what the final product is like. I have no doubt it will be a great kit and good value though. Good thing is I have a little bit more to go before I Upgrade my turbo so I can wait and see. I would have no problem purchasing either of the current Hybrid kings knowing this info though, most likely I still will when the time comes.

Actually.. the opposite is true.
The ST280 and X47 aren't anywhere near fuel limits on PUMP. That's the key.
On straight 91/93 pump gas, those Hybrids are hitting the 280ish or less whp.
With e30 AND meth they are breaking into the 300's.
According to DHM you can make 300-330 whp safely on 93. Before hitting stock fuel limit.
So if this turbo can make 315 whp on ONLY 93, then that's a 35 whp gain over the top Hybrids right now.

So 315 whp all day on straight pump, and then I spray in the meth and make even more if you want.
Sounds perfect to me.

I think this is the situation:

Unlike your MP215 setup, this setup will in no way be street legal---from an emissions standpoint, in jurisdictions that smog test our car. However, in some jurisdictions, cars of this vintage are not checked for emissions compliance at all, ever. Our emissions equipment is considered to result in extremely low emissions---low enough to exempt them from testing. That means Fiesta STs are never connected to emissions testing computers for periodic re-registration purposes (in those areas). In such jurisdictions, you do not need to worry about the "street legal" status. The car will never get tested.

With this MRX setup (or the MR230 for that matter), any emissions monitoring computer would detect a "not ready" state (not sure about the programming involved, but the tune appears to disable the CEL indicator for a not-ready state, or it just does not cause a CEL to appear). So, while no in-dash CEL appears, the car's status will not pass an OBDII-connected emissions test (regardless of actual detected emissions).

Upshot: If you get tested, this tune and upgrade will cause you a problem. If you do not get tested, you do not get tested.

The problem is that the X-47 is running out of fuel in the upper RPMS from the graphs I have seen. I'm aware of the what DHM states off their website but I'm going off the evidence I have seen so far.

You still want to be well within your limits. I'm sure those hybrids push very close to the choke line up top but they still hold boost past 7K. Your numbers seem reasonable but I'm a little doubtful to hit 315WHP. The point I'm really trying to make is if things like the X-47 didn't exist and we were still sitting at the 260WHP, a turbo like this makes a lot of sense. We will have to wait and see what the response and final outputs are. But I bet it will pretty close to 300WHP just with potential to go more. So the question still remains, what is your goal? I don't think any BT is worth it unless some sort of aux fuel is used, why leave power on the table when there are other options out there far less complicated if you don't plan on pushing past that point.

The end all, say all GTX2860 GEN2, is a 300-310whp turbo on 93oct. But that assumes your using a GTX2860 GEN2. If your NOT using a GEN2 GTX2860, and your using something smaller, then you are not making 315whp. If you are using a GTX2860 GEN2, then you can make 300-330 (with the correct "pump gas" ), but then your using a GTX2860 GEN2, which is...... $2000 alone just a unit sitting on your sofa.

I mean..... I'd use the GtX2860 GEN2 lol.

And I'd love to see them somehow force a GTX2554 GEN2 out of Garrett lol ( which doesn't even remotely exist ).

Even cooler, how neat would it be if they came out with a twin scroll 2860 GEN1/Gen2 ?

Guess time will tell.

Not to be negative, but my tree-Fidy is on a GT2554 based kit with "mountune" compressor housing ( which is a gimicky way to have a "custom turbo".

If I remember correctly there are videos of the Mountune test car, its red, that I believe fifteen52 did and the car is only making 260whp on ca 91 (which is where I live and where Mountune is located). While that may not be final number it's still about right where the X-47 would be. I love Mountune, but I didnt think there turbo kit would be worth the wait. I have a Mountune exhaust, downpipe, induction, brake line, and brake pads and a tune from Randy. I just decided that even if the Mountune kit give me a tab but more it's not work the extra 1k it would have cost me. I got my almost loaded (everything minus the gfb diver cause I already have one) X-47 shipped from puma for $1,660. Throw in the DHM tune for $200 and for $1800+ you have a 260-270whp on ca 91. From the graphs I've seen. The only difference on my X-47 is I sent it out today to get ported. I could be completely wrong about the kit, but I think regardless of which upgrade turbo you go with thi car should be pretty quick.

This kit is supposed to be more powerful whp wise than any hybrid kit.
Per mountune.

That would be awesome if it does, but last time I talked to them (when I was there getting my brake lines installed) was a couple months before the X-47 was introduced. The kit was complete they were putting more miles on the test car and getting everything set up for a release. Unless they changed the turbo in the last 2 months I don't see it putting down much if not anymore then we have seen the X-47. Of course anything anybody post here is speculation until somebody gets the kit and gets some independent dynos.

thier turbo kit is not gonna be worth snot if they cannot back it up with a decent ic. thier pos doesn't cut it with a x37 unless it is less than 75 outside. I have suggested that before while trying to be nice, but whatever. boyracer
Who knows, maybe they'll have a new intercooler out.
Guess we'll have to wait and see!
