Update Sync3 to v2.2 for navigation and non-navigation units - AndroidAuto and AppleCarPlay (download links inside)

Is this link for the Apple or Android? Is there a different link for each one? I can't search thru 30+ pages
I found a lot of dead links on my search, but this one has both - first one is with nav, second without nav: http://robry.srve.io/sync-downloads/

I got it to work eventually. Initially I kept getting odd windows errors when extracting but read that turning off your anti-virus when extracting from the zip file sometimes helped - which it did with me,

Upon initial reboot after updating, I was disappointed that I could see the Android icon, but nothing for Apple. My nav was also sitting as 'updating'. One more power cycle and both Apple Carplay and my Ford Navigation were both working well. Oh, and installing the new USB hub is a breeze, just pry it out with a flat blade (I used a dinner knife!) and there's 2 plugs to swap over.

Easy, even for me, a relative neanderthal.

Bumping this thread - has anyone experienced any problems with the update since installing?

I have USB drives all set and I'm about to do the update myself in a few days. I wanted to check in and make sure people are still happy with the update before I pull the trigger.

One additional question - the directions say: "Start your vehicle and insert the drive...". Did you wait for Sync to fully start up before inserting the drive?

PleaseEyesPlease, don't know the answer to the last question.

Regarding the first, I asked the same question several pages ago and have been lightly following along since. Only one "incident" reported so far and think you should be safe.

Idle curiosity, does the new system, non-nav, automatically adjust for the annual Spring and Fall time changes? The only clocks I have to adjust include the car, motorcycle, stove, microwave and bathroom. Everything else auto-adjusts.

Nav does not, I would assume non Nav does not either.

Nav user here upgraded months ago and no issues. Android Auto is a little flakey to start up sometimes, but it's good, and a worthwhile upgrade. Google maps with traffic is the best.

I've noticed that Android Auto on my One Plus 3 doesn't like being plugged in until Sync has fully booted. Other than that I've had no issues.

Same. Sync needs to be fully up and running before AA will take hold. No issues here for a couple months now. I also have factory nav.

Interesting. I prefer to plug my iPhone in before starting the car so it all boots to Carplay. That by itself already slows up total startup-to-backing-out-of-the-driveway time. I'd have to have to wait for it to boot and then plug in my phone.

I've seen the same thing. If I plug it in too early it drops out of CP and I see an error message my phone. The it works okay. I do see random drop outs though.

Has anyone had an issue where the system asks if you want to turn on auto update every time you turn on the car? My clock always resets too, as well as BT devices always become unpaired. It's as if the system doesn't save any settings from the drive before.

If your unit is non-navigation from the factory you want to download the non-navigation file. Once you update, you can use the Maps app through either AndroidAuto or AppleCarPlay for navigation.

I had some similar problems after I took delivery of my '16. What solved it was two things: First, I did a factory reset on the SYNC system. THEN, and this is very important: pair your phone by beginning with the sync voice command button on the steering wheel. Say "pair phone" and only THEN follow the prompts on-screen.

I don't know why it works, but I found that on a Focus forum, and that immediately solved the phone pairing problem and the other skittish behavior.

Did the update on my 16 non nav about a week ago. It's working great so far. The only quark I have found it is best to disconnect my phone from the usb before I turn the car off. Otherwise when I start the car again, it takes the stereo forever to realize it's not still connected. It just sits on a black, non responsive screen for a few minutes. Otherwise Google maps on the screen is awesome.

So if I view that date forecast comparatively, it's not looking good: last March/April 2016 they said the update was due out summer 2016, so.... 4-6 months from now means at least summer 2018?

LOL

I have just spoken with a ford rep, the fiesta st update for carplay is expected in 4-6 months from today 3/24/17

Unfortunately it didn't work for me, but thanks for the tip!

Performed the update to a 16 Nav unit. Update went smoothly but I have to say Android Auto seems half baked and I experience a number of problems. I have repeated issues with audio starting to play and then within a minute pausing, sometimes I have USB connectivity issues which causes the system to crash. The behavior is noted with both Android phones I have used. The amount of apps are limited and I wish Android Auto would automatically exit once I have left the vehicle. Interesting that the Android Wear smartwatch world takes it on the chin for being half baked but compared to Android Auto it is much more developed and a smoother experience. Hopefully Android Auto matures in future updates.

16 FiST with Nav. Got it working. No issues. AA works great. Now to figure out how to get the "ST Racing Performance" on the loadup screen instead of the Ford logo....
