I haven't been able to get availability at the dealer, but I have been able to find GJ7Z-19A387-B through ebay for $66.00. Is that the going rate? Even Tasca shows it "Not For Sale". Did any of you purchase from another source?
That's where I got mine. I didn't think the price was bad, and I had it in a couple of days.

Yeah I ordered mine directly from Walt Sweeney (their online parts department, not ebay) and got charged the correct MSRP ($50ish) for it and had it in 2 days. Couldn't beat that service.

Hey Guys, I got my car in the summer and like a lot of you I was also told that carplay would be coming out "later in the year". So much for that. I pretty much know what to do and have placed an order on the part. However I just have 2 questions

1. Do you have any splash screen issues? is it still the big ford logo?

2. I have heard that you can actually change it using the ForScan app or something? would any of you guy have any insight on that?

By the way thank you guys. I posted something similar on a focus forum thinking it was this one, but it bears repeating. I want to sincerely thank you. The community around the ST (including focus, fiesta, and RS) is awesome! Makes me very happy and lucky to have picked a car with such a cool community.

If you guys have answered this in a past post please forgive me!

If you manually install the update instead of waiting for Ford to release it, you will get the Ford boot logo. However if you have a Bluetooth/Wifi/USB ODB2 reader you can use ForScan to change the boot logo to whatever one you want, including the ST logo, a Lincoln logo, a Mustang logo, etc. Its not all that hard to do, you just need to write some values to Sync from a laptop using the ODB2 connection. There is a thread in this forum on the exact procedure. Its not super easy but if you are at all tech inclined you shouldn't have any issues.

In order to properly gauge risk, people should know what can happen, and has happened for how few or many people.

The question that wasn't asked: Who has messed something up? Share your observations and experiences.

I don't think anyone's had any major issues yet. There were a couple non-navs that couldn't get the update to install because of the whole 2 flash thing but other than that I have yet to see anyone with an issue.

Honestly, if you can't copy paste a few files to the root of a flash drive without issues then you probably shouldn't bother trying this update and wait for the dealer to do it for you.

The only issue/variable that people have had, at least that I've seen, is the length of the software installation. But whats likely causing the difference in instal time for people is the quality/write/read speed of the flash drive. That's my theory at least

Hello all! :)
This is my first post here. I have a 2016 Focus and live in Mexico. My Snyc 3 version is obviously 1.0 and have tried to get an answer from Ford about the update to 2.0 or 2.2 to be able tu use Android Auto (before buying the car and before I knew better, I was assured that I would be able to use it) without any success.
I have downloaded the update file that is avaliable here but am a little afraid that it might not work because of my car being from another region.
Do any of you know if it will work?
Thanks!

I'm sure this has been asked about a hundred times now, and forgive my ignorance here but I have a 2014 w/ Nav...this update isn't compatible with mine because they switched Sync systems in the following years...right?

That's correct, only compatible with Sync3 systems that are in the 2016 models.

I haven't heard anything since they proclaimed winter of 2016. Good luck with waiting.
Aren't you buried in snow? Still winter ;)

I just wonder how long they're gonna keep jerking their customers around for? Socks that they can't be honest about stuff like this.
I wouldn't jump straight to calling them dishonest. Aren't people in this thread still having issues getting the USB module required for carplay? Can't imagine Ford officially announcing it when just this little leak has screwed up their supply chain.
