Lightweight Advanti 17x8 (4x108) Wheels

I understand...Wasn't trying to post "misleading info" and did indicate this as "general" or "generic"...that being said and back to question asked earlier....A few members here on our forum have already installed 215/40-17 "Z2" tires on 17x8+45 wheels and found no issues with clearance or rubbing which was primary intent of posting that attachment as a generic indication of fitment...

Yes, and IF BFG would release them in an overall diameter I could use (for MY wants/needs/purposes, instead of me having to adapt my car to what THEY want to supply, size-wise), they would be my #1 choice for summer only tires right now.

But, 22.8" OD is just WAY TOO SHORT for me!!

They are seriously on my list for a 16" setup with a 215/45 on it, but probably only on a 7" wide wheel (heaven FORBID!!).
(BTW; that setup, with the 1.2s in 16x7 will save ~5.3 off of each corner vs. the factory setup, but yes, I know, "not NEAR enough" un-sprung weight saved. LOL)

I bought ten of the Konig Helix, 15x9, flow formed, 13.4lbs, $1240 shipped for all of them
The 17x8 Hypergram, flow formed as well, 16.3lbs, $165 per wheel, 17x9, 17lbs, $169 per wheel.
Enkei 16x8, 14.8lbs, $220 each, I had a set the first part of the year but sent them back when I figured out how to fit the 15x8, 11.4lbs 6UL over my BBK

I was the first to do the 4x100, easy to see why when there are such great wheels available

Here is a link to 17x8 et45 Advanti Storm S1 wheels available in the 4x108 bolt pattern. They are flow-formed, 16.8lbs per wheel (verified by Goodwin Racing who carries the 4x100 version only).

Cut and pasted from Goodwinracing.com where I know they weigh every single wheel they sell in all offsets there would be little or no difference in 4x100 or 4x108.

Since their supposed 3 lb. weight advantage over the Pro Race 1.2s is the ONLY reason many would take these wheels over the 1.2s, I certainly HOPE that you are correct.

Since their supposed 3 lb. weight advantage over the Pro Race 1.2s is the ONLY reason many would take these wheels over the 1.2s, I certainly HOPE that you are correct.

Have these on my car, came from 1.2's. (17x8 on 205s)They are 3 Lbs lighter, which is nice, but another + is the 1.2s have an extremely thick rim edge, not a big deal if you are running wider tires but with stock 205's stetched out it gives you just that little extra saftey margin for curbs.

GREAT point, but if I run the 1.2s, it will be with 215 section tires, regardless of whether or not they are on 16x7s, or 17x8s, so not much, if any, 'stretch' going on there.

I do not recall exactly at the moment but how wheels are cast and then the finish of the production can make a huge difference in the actual strength. The Advanti is low pressure case and then flow formed which is meaning while hot formed to have much thinner outer areas to save the weight but it also aligns the grain structure making that part of the wheel nearly as strong as forged wheels but could even be a bit less prone to fracture on a harder hit.

Having a 3lb heavier wheel where it is all out on the outer edge has far more performance impact in all things performance and wear and tear than it may seem.

You'll be fine with 215's- i confess i do like the look of the 205 on the 8" wheel,but the real reason i gamble is the car is a daily and i'll dip under my ave 30mpg on my commute with the bigger footprints

Yes, I know it ALL TOO WELL, and I am NOT 'allowed' to forget it on this site either!

But for street use I AM willing to give up those 3 lbs. (but STILL almost 3 lbs. lighter than stock, let's NOT forget THAT fact!!) for a wheel I have always liked the looks of (the Pro Race 1.2s), and wanted (yes even more so than the good looking Advantis), but could not have, due to them not being made for the platform/PCD I had at the time.

Now, for a PURE track wheel, with 00-100 tread wear, very sticky donuts on them, yes, I too will try to shave off every 1/100th of a gram, as you and others on here are compelled to do for physics' sake.

Welp discount tire killed the bead on one of my wheels. So now I'm basically forced to get 215 tires. This just sucks but I'm getting two free tires out if it. Also ordered a 5th wheel in case I bend a wheel.

I have to admit I have added more weight than I preferred to get the look I wanted but it was on a truck and also on an SUV

I have had a series of moments lately, awake, semi asleep and dreams where I had a very hard crash in my car on track so I have not taken it out and rarely even drive it but when I do I have been a bit more of a hooligan than I normally am on the street so it is time to part with it though it has been one of my all time favorite build projects and overall just damn fun to drive.

That said, I will always promote the lowest weight one can run in the areas that are the most important even if I never build up another car but I will endorse using good wheels and or tires that might be a bit heavier on occasion, like now
