Hi guys, I bought Maxton front splitter for my ST and I have a problem in the assembly .
The splitter must be secured with ten screws , two on each side and five in the middle ... it is precisely the latter that I can not fix because there not space.
There is someone there he can help me ?

I wanted to know how did you fix the five central screws , because they touch on the support that sustains intercooler .

Visit this thread, I have a bunch of photos detailing how I did it.

You need to flip the screws the other way so the bolts don't protrude up into the intercooler support, etc. Take off the bumper to install the splitter.

Yes, I took off and recommend the bumper be taken off for a much cleaner install. The splitter becomes a part of the bumper making future removals easy as a whole unit.

Many thanks for reply, I saw that you also have rear spoiler extension , is simple to install ? and once installed it is permanent or it can be removed without damage to the paint ?

Yes, it's a simple install. Its not permanent. I actually removed it after I initially installed it. A little bit of time spent pealing off the old tape, and then put my own double sided tape covering the area better than what was on there. I also trimmed one side of the extension with a dremmel and file to make both sides symmetrical because I'm picky. Other than that the fitment and quality is good.

But you've removed because the 3M double-sided adhesive did not take ?

That's technically called a "Gurney Flap", or "wickerbill", and it might actually be functional in our application. [:)]

I'd rather do that than raise the factory spoiler's 'angle of attack'. [wink]

to me it's a duckbill reminiscent to ones for classic Porsche 911's, but new age gen may not draw the connection, so plain old 'extension' for now, LOL.

and yes, I prefer this duckbill rather than tilting the wing [twothumb]

So just place properly rear extension and press for two / three minutes until the adhesive does not stick , correct?

I always called those rear wings on the turbo 911 Porsches "whale tails", or "duck tails" for the earlier, steeply raked upwards versions on the first Carreras and RSes. [wink]

I installed the rear spoiler extension , but near the tips , 3M adhesive doesn' t take well.
What could be the problem?

I ran one set of manometer tests up the centerline from lower IC lip over grill, nose, cowl, windshield, roof to end of out "wing" Pressures were below atmosphere in center of roof, typical, but I was surprised to find higher than atmosphere at the top rear of wing. So it is adding a little downforce as is. Be fun to measure the effect of the wickerbill.

I have heard folks say that closing the openings would make it work better, but from my aero testing, Ford did not leave much on the table. I did not do comprehensive testing of the wing, but since it would be cheaper to have made it without openings, I bet they do something useful.

Maybe they (the wing openings) help keep the back window clear in heavy deluges, or help clean grime from it when it rains at all??

Do you have access to a wind tunnel, or are you just running an industrial fan in front of the car, using smoke/vapor mist, and taking readings that way?
