Strange whistle after turbo install

Ever since I installed the Pumaspeed X-37, I've had this weird whistle at lower boost levels. It's not there when I'm out of boost, or at anything say, 10psi or above. WOT sounds completely normal....only at part throttle, low boost I get this strange whistle. Maybe johnnyaf87 can tell me if this is "normal" for this turbo...

Anyways, let me know what you guys think. My first thought was...boost leak? But all connections are tight and I feel like it would be more apparent at higher boost levels. Boost is consistent and predictable...is it possible that the wastegate is making this sound while bleeding off boost?

Do you still have the stock BPV? Sounds like the noise it makes when under light load. It opens when under light load and makes a funky whistle noise. That noise stopped completely when I switched to the Synapse DV+

Yes, stock BPV. Weird that it never made that noise with the stock turbo.

I was following your thread, you put a Tune+ actuator on too correct? maybe something to do with that? But Adam should be able to fix it up. But with the X37. I'd recommend an aftermarket BOV or DV anyway. Mine stopped completely after we "turned it off" and I put the synapse on. Which I highly recommend. That thing is the best DV I've ever had. Tial Q is a close second

Gotcha. Thanks for the input. So the BPV makes noise under boost and not only when letting off the throttle?

Well not really "under boost" but while driving normally it will sometimes open while on light throttle. Or cruising.

Remove the filter off your intake and do a quick drive around the block to see if it still makes the noise.

Just tried it and it is louder with the filter removed.

It is just the air traveling over the line adapter about mid-way up your intake. It is even louder now because you have a turbo that is moving air much more than the factory turbo.

You can send me a log with BPV mode logged on part throttle and it will tell me the position of the BPV. It is either open or closed, there is no in between.

Just to update, I logged it and I'm seeing the whistle just into positive boost pressure at 40-50% throttle, 1-2psi...BPV parameter reads "0" until I let off the throttle. Adam said this is likely the vacuum fitting on my CP-E intake whistling which makes sense. I don't mind it as long as nothing is wrong.

Is there a fix? There was another thread about this same sound and I don't think there was any resolution. I have the MAP intake on an otherwise stock car and have the same sound described here. Would rather not have the whistle sound.

I had a 2012 Accord V6 sedan with high flow pre cat deletes, and the air flowing through the pre cats at greater than stock velocity made apart throttle whistle that almost sounded like it was building boost. I liked it! Lol

Lol I had something similar in my previous Corvettes with aftermarket intakes. It was very subtle though....this sounds like someone is blowing a whistle. I may start disassembling intake pieces today to try to narrow down the root cause.

My Subaru had the same sound when I went with a 73mm big intake and big turbo. I didn't mind it at all on my car. Sounded more like he turbo spoiling than a whistle on mine though.
