Exhaust question.

I'd like to get a new exhaust as the stock one is too quiet.
I'm leaning toward either the MRT or the MBRP.
My question is until I decide on an exhaust, would it be possible to go to a muffler shop and have them cut out the resonator and muffler from the stock exhaust, and have them replaced with straight pipes?
That way I can sample what a straight pipe system would sound like for a few bucks, and if I like it fine but if it's too drony then I would opt for a different system.

Just search on youtube, there's tons of examples of other owners doing resonator or muffler deletes, or both.

You could do the old washer trick. Where you unbolt the 2 bolts/studs that connect the downpipe and exhaust. Super cheap and easy way to get some extra sound. I have yet to hear of anyone doing it on our cars, but I've heard of it done on 370Z's where it actually doesn't sound as bad as you might think.

Personally I have opted for the MAP exhaust, which is sitting in my garage waiting to be installed!

I know I want to asap! Just got back from vacation; it's going on this week. I think I'll film it and make a how to video. [emoji1419]

Well I finally find an exhaust that I like and go figure it's made in the UK.

Is there any benefit with going with a larger diameter pipe, say 3" instead of 2.5", pros and cons?
3"
Pro: None until you go big turbo. Big turbo is when you start to need it. Slightly deeper sound.

Con: These seem to drone more, based on what I've read on here (looking at Injen and MBRP).

2.5" is really the opposite of that, but that seems to be the ideal size for our cars, short of a big turbo upgrade. The guys who buy the 2.5" by Cobb, MAP, and FSWerks seem to be really happy. I'll let you know once I install my MAP exhaust!

I loosened my down pipe. Now I get sleepy when I drive after awhile. Could it be the fumes.
