What did you do to your Fiesta ST today ?

Yesterday I took off all the wheels and cleaned them real good inside and out. About 2 weeks of brake dust on the outside and 15k miles of dust inside. Cleaned off the calipers while I was at it. It's hard to clean those with the wheels on. I might aim to do this once a year or so just so stuff doesn't gunk up the inside of the wheel.

Interior, we don't need no stinkin interiors. All the asphalt-based sound deadening is about 9.5lbs, carpet/plastic trim/rear seat belt reels are about 40lbs. Total weight loss is about 225lbs thus far with just interior and battery. I would not recommend this if you use the car as a DD.

^^^Why did you even leave the rear interior door panels, and back part of the console?

There are also much lighter seats out there than the stockers, and as long as you are not one of those deathly afraid to drive any car without the exploding pillows to 'save' you, the whole steering wheel (replaced by an aftermarket tiller), and passenger side dash bags leave a lot of mass on the table as well.

The door panels are next on the list, I didn't feel like dealing it them yesterday. That heat gun kicked my ass getting the sound deadening up. The car is still street driven so the factory seat will remain for airbag functionality. As much as I would like a seat/harness setup, that wouldn't be safe without a full cage. And even then, seen a couple 'un-helmeted' heads bounce off of cages in my line of work, no looking to replicate those results lol!

Are those back seat latch catches welded to the unibody, or bolted?

If the latter, there is another couple of pounds gone.

They are bolted, just saw that! Thanks! They front passenger seat will be going back in until I can make a resistor for that seat's airbag. I'm assuming that if the airbag light is on, nothing will fire in a collision. Time to break out the ole multi-meter and wiring schematics.

Yep, but if it never gets cleaned it will get so caked on there that it will be impossible to clean inside.

After 2 years, finally got around to trying out the ST without the sound symposer and did a simple "mute" with some "Foam Plumbing Tubular Pipe Insulation" (I had sitting around) rolled up and put in the outgoing connection #1.

Took all of 1 minute to pull it out, roll up a one inch piece of foam real tight and put back the connection. Can't decide if I'll ultimately keep it muted, but for now its a nice change and I'm definitely hearing the intake and turbo better.

IF you plan on running these right through the winter, PLEASE let us know how they are in shallow (under 1" worth of) snow.

I am curious as to how they compare with their parent company's Pilot Sport AS3s in those conditions.
