I apologize for late response, only saw the thread has grown so big today...

Is this the wheel you have in mind?

Or maybe you mean the bare vinyl/urethane wheel?

Whatever it is, we'd love to work on a custom cover for it but we need the wheel for prototyping. Anyone have such wheel laying around and want to send it over to Poland in exchange for a free cover?

:)

You have already prototyped the Fiesta ST wheel, which is closer to the upper pic in size/shape/texture than the lower, economy/base model's wheel.

This is EXACTLY what the thread starter had done by you, and the whole basis/topic of this thread. [;)]

How much out the door?
Depending on what materials and options you will choose. Basic scheme, if you send us the wheel, is as follows:

  • $100 for the wrap (regular leather, if you want smooth Nappa leather, the cost is $130, if you want genuine Alcantara, it's $150)
  • $100 for installation of the wrap
  • $50 for shipping of the wheel to you
  • $49 for padding (if you want it, of course)

And when you send us photos of rewrapped wheel installed in your car, you receive $100 back.

If Alcantra is a synthetic material, what is "Faux Alcantara"? Do you just mean a no-name knock-off?
Pretty much, actually... Genuine Alcantara is a highly sophisticated patent-protected fabric which is highly durable and widely used in motorsports and top shelf cars. And 4 times as expensive as leather. Faux-alcantara is a cheaper imitation that only looks similar but does not hold as well, does not feel as nice and is only suitable for shift boots.

It's not that simple, I'm afraid. The FiST wheel is thicker than the one in the upper pic, and the shape is a bit different as well - thumbgrips are shaped and located differently. On top of that, the leather panels are sewn together at different angles. All in all, the template that we have is for ST wheel only and can not be used for regular Fiesta wheel.

There must be a lot of confusion going on here, as I believe that NO ONE is asking about ANYTHING but covering an ST wheel, which you have already done, protyotyped, and shipped back to this thread starter.

Too bad you don't have a re-shaped wheel.
That is a flat bottom.
I do have a spare wheel I could send in if it could be done.

That would involve them cutting and welding the inner steel ring of the wheel, and might even need a re-certification from the feds to be totally 'legal'- NOT going to happen. [:(]

It's holding up well but I'm thinking I may need to do the first cleaning. I've done 3 trackdays without using gloves so there's a bit of matting starting in 2 spots where I held the majority of the time and it got real sweaty. Barely noticeable to the eye but I can feel it.

^^^I used to wear Sparco, or OMP suede palmed gloves even when daily driving on the street, in the summer (and a suede palmed winter glove in the winter) when I first installed the Sparco suede wheel in my Z28, in order to try and save the suede, and keep it from getting matted down.

I stopped doing this when my kids were embarrassed to be seen in the car with me while wearing said gloves.

After that, I just brushed up the nap of the wheel with a stainless steel brush once or twice a week, and it was fine.
