Hi folks. As you can see, I just joined to share and learn with my ST project car. Let me start by saying I have modded cars most of my life so tuning is not new to me, just the ST is new. I've owned and modded many fun cars, including EVO X, 2 SRT8's, S60R, and my favorite, a 2000 Camaro SS that was a high 10 sec daily driver, to name a few.
My goal is to share my ST experience and learn from others as I continue this project. This is an "extra" car for me, so I can modify it without needing it daily, and that's nice. At under 5K on the odometer, I am currently all Cobb S3, minus the DP (more on that in a minute).
I recently had my car Etuned by Tune+. I know most of you are familiar with him, and I am very happy with his results. Protunes are certainly in a different league than the Cobb OTS tunes. As to the subject of this thread, Adam tunes about 4psi higher than Cobb S3. Yes, you'll see varying readings on the AP, but that's approx the difference from OTS S3. Of course, there's a whole lot more to a good tune than boost level alone.
One thing that I was grateful to learn from Adam was that a DP is not required until going bigger turbo. I know a lot of folks that agree with that and plenty of others that will disagree, but Adam is one of the most experienced for the Ecoboost, and he LOSES power with aftermarket DP's, including Cobbs. I am a big Cobb fan, but I do think their "requirement" for their DP going to their S3 is misleading. So I was glad to save some money knowing that, and my car is running very strong with the stock DP. I do have plans to swap the turbo, and at that time a DP makes sense for sure.
Anyway, happy to be here!!
