Terribly sorry this happened to you guys:(

A good thumping is in order but he is not worth getting in trouble over.

Lesson learned. Take a good look at anybody listing parts for sale, new member, find out if he has a good rep on other forums, call him (seldom will they take a call which is another tip off) look up the address on Google, look up his user name, name given, us a credit card instead of Paypal funds, costs a bit more, generally better to just not take the chance.

I have shipped tens of thousands of business orders and bought and sold hundreds if not thousands of car parts, learned to be careful a very long time ago. Only ripped off twice ever, many years back.

Get the CFPB involved. I've twice been told I was SOL by big banks but their tune suddenly changes when you get submit a CFPB claim. It's amazing really, I bet a few days after you submit with CFPB you will magically get a very friendly call from someone on the Paypal executive team.

Thank you! I will go that route after I see what's in the box.

That's where I sent the money too.

If he sends you a box of rocks then open a new one for not getting the right item maybe?
Nope, I am unable to open any kind of dispute anymore on this transaction.

I used PayPal to send hiM $100 for the RMM. I sent the funds as a transfer to a friend (avoid charges) and I don't see a way to request the transaction to be reversed. I'm guessing it's not possible as I sent the money as a friend?
Since you sent the money as a "gift" Paypal will not help you. Sorry man.

Ouch man cardinal rule #1 never "gift" or send money to friend via paypal. I'm sorry to hear that I think you're SOL..... SMH[mecry]

He said he had his brother ship the items using his employee discount. You can see a name and address on the top left.

If you facebook search the phone #, it brings up the profile of Martin Martinez. Lots of public pictures on that page, so in case the seller is really Martin, grab some. no location info on his page tho. He only has one male friend with the last name Martinez (Benja Martinez).

Searching Maurice Martinez and the address (4260 Clayton rd) I found a blockshopper page that shows Maurice Sold that property back in 2012, so that's likely not his current address. The PayPal transactions should show some address though, but I'd bet it's likely the same one shown on the receipt

CRAP! I was worried this was going to happen!
Just catching this thread, I haven't read through all the posts yet.

I contacted admin D1JL about this seller, but since we didn't have any proof we couldn't do much about it at the time.

I need to read all these posts and come back with more info. My blood is boiling at this point[rant]

Hey, guys... I think this may also be ca_fist.

Months ago, we made a legit transaction. He purchased my Cyborg.

The name he used was Xavier Garcia. I know you think I'm jumping to conclusions. But hear me out... The emails are very similar, but different hosts I won't list his host because that would be screwed up if it was VERY odd coincidence...
But here it is: nochnoidozor. If someone can IP check him, PM me and I'll send his host name and address so you can cross check

Edit- Also, his address was very near Concord, CA.

I've gotta think they would help me, but last night the customer service person was basically saying I'm SOL. I had no idea I could never re-open a dispute or issue a new one.
If you paid via credit card through Paypal, open a dispute with your credit card company. It may piss Paypal off, but it will get your money back.

This is a very good point.
If the money was sent as a GIFT then the alleged seller is not obligated to send you anything in return.

When his name was posted previously, it triggered my memory about the odd purchase. I remembered his name being Xavier.

Well, my Xavier texted me about the Cyborg back in August. We settled on a price and he was ready to buy. I became suspicious when he told me he needed to transfer money to PayPal before he could send the payment. I thought this was odd because you don't need to transfer money to PayPal. It sends money to the seller and pulls the money from your account. During the week of the transfer I thought I was about to scammed, but eventually he made good.

I backed out of the transaction with him early on. I felt something was weird with him and with those being his first posts I was out.

Get a gang of FiST drivers in CA to go on a lookout mission. About 15 dudes knocking on his door might help get some refunds going (that's actually a terrible idea, don't do that).

I have his phone number too and some texts from him. Do iPhone photos have any gps or location info?

Okay mods:
If this is not reason enough to have a minimum post count or forum membership time requirement, I don't know what is. I know as a new member I would not be offended to wait a few months or something like that before posting in the classifieds. Please consider this.

I agree with SeanBonham

I think a certain amount of time and a min post requirement should be considered. This may be a rare case in our community but I would hate to see it start a trend or the same dick ripping people off.

You still have the address you shipped to? A google search of this phone number brings up Xavier Garcia.

I just sent some info to Buttery. We've confirmed that we both texted to the same number.

Hijinx and myself just confirmed that the guy who purchased his cyborg is the same guy who is scamming all of us. We have his address as of August 2015. It's in Pittsburg, CA.
