Nope
Well what happens is you go to their website and place your order and then in a day or two they will email you a form to fill out to say what mods you have and what fuel you run etc. then once you fill it out, they will email you the tune in a day or two.

I'm assuming depending on what mods you have, they give you a tune that can make the optimal amount of power for those mods.

Thanks, that answers my question perfectly.

so i got my map catback on today and wow the v2 crackles are crazy with a catback lol, very loud and lots of pops, not sure if i will be able to keep it for daily driving or not yet, I wonder if its still possible to get V1 crackles anymore on a 3.00 tune or not.

I've used 2 of Stratified's canned tunes on my car in time past, this was prior to my Tune+ custom tune which is much more powerful. However, i desire to test out Cobb's traction control so I've ordered the "add on" to see how it feels, and while I'm at it I'll be testing out the crackle feature as well. For a mere $37.50 you can't go wrong. Nice to have options. If I like the TC I might get it tuned into my custom tune later.

Generally anyones Protune should be stronger than anyones shelf tune. When you're protuning, you have the datalogs to give you more information to alter the tune to make maximum power. So yes, if you have an OTS tune from Stratified, then I'm pretty sure any other tuners protune will be better.

I have the Cobb TC on my tunes from TuningbyOZ.com. They are ok, nothing earth shattering. The difference between The Cobb and the Oem TC is that Oem cuts throttle to control slip where as the Cobb is much more subtle and retards timing. It's definitely better for track use as it won't cause the car to bog down. You can still spin the tires if you lose traction. The car will continue to accelerate as long as you have the go pedal pressed, just reduces the amount of power laid down to help control slip a bit better while still letting you have fun.

The strat tunes are awesome, not knocking them, heck I just ordered one. But a custom/pro-tune is always going to be better as they're looking at your specific car rather than giving you a generic tune. Stratified offers a custom tune for $250 which is a good price and I have heard great results from their custom tunes. I really enjoyed their OTS 'stage 1' tune when I was at that hardware level in comparison to Cobb's.

Heck I'd even consider a custom Strat tune down the road, depending on how I like the TC and crackle tune I ordered. Unfortunately Tune+ no longer offers the casper tune (crackle) so I can't get that feature with my current setup.

I just ordered the tune/TC on one map and the tune/TC/crackle on another map last night. Really looking forward to the upgrade. I was going to put the money towards a FMIC, but I think I'll postpone that until spring since I don't need it in winter and would rather not cover the thing in salt right from the start.

"Stronger" is subjective. I'd like to see a dyno comparison.
guess jeff is your man[biggrin]

Well when you find someone who has both a Stratified can tune and someone else's protune, let me know.[sleeping]
Yes that's the right way to do it, to compare one OTS tune to a custom tune isn't fair. That's not something I can do though if I end up getting a custom Strat tune I would be able to.

Having said that I am not one to say one tune is better than another. They probably all have their good points as different tuners have different ideology when it comes to their work. I feel it's more about what you want out fo the tune and how you want your car to run in the end. My custom tune is stronger overall but it has per my request limited power in the first few gears in order to maintain traction. The Strat canned tune has more power early on which results in the tires spinning a bit. So it's all what you want in the tune.

As I said I feel that Strat does great work and I'm excited to try out their TC/PnC options once they arrive in my inbox.

I have Adams Tune+ Protune and also Oztuning protunes. I'm going to dyno them, but don't feel like spending $100+ just to find out by how much HP my OZtuning tune is than the Tune+ one. I'm getting my Cyborg made into a Cyborg 39 anyhow, so it's all a moot point anyway. I'll dyno once my Cyborg 39 is on and tuned. Wish I could find a reasonable dyno cost wise not too far from me.

Thank you for that explanation! [thumb]

Thinking the same exact thing, except that I might buy the CP-E IC during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, but not install it until the spring. [wink]
