Drove it to the turbo shop and compared our dinky kp39 turbine to the twin scroll K03 in the hydie velositor 1.6L :(

Would a K03 be a worthy upgrade for our cars? How do they compare with the little ATP turbos?

K03 turbos have a really big range in size. So we do have some options, but honestly, we have better options for the work/cost.

I'm working hard to improve the cyborg. We've been doing some trial and error testing and I'm working on showing gains.

In the longer run, when some more warranties age out, and people more start getting tired of getting walked from a roll, I'll have an affordable option that won't match a GTx or EFR but will be priced right and will be a option between the really nice ( and expensive ) turbos and the cyborg. But for right this moment, its not worth developing, the market for mods of these cars isn't very strong. Seems everyone is either happy with the power it makes with a tune, has the "means" to upgrade to a really nice setup, or is set keeping the warranty for all 36k miles or 3 years ( or for the nyeve, the extended warranty as well ).

I'm still shocked ATP isn't having an issue stocking there kit, instead of having sold 0 units to forum members ( that post, with a USDM car/tune ).

I know what you mean. If I was in USA I'd be all over ATP with Cobb ap custom tune. Just no real incentive for me as I can't extract the best from the kit. Even then it's still tempting. [emoji13]

If and when I plan on upgrading my turbo this may be the route I will most likely go with...

Any ST owners here test driven the Veloster to compare how it spools up, response, etc?

---------------

ATP, Cyborg, EFR.....

There are two cars here about to get the EFR with the AP and custom tune, I think we are all going to be pleasantly surprised at how well it works out.

I could of and nearly bought the ATP kit after Matt at Panda did so well with one but he insists the EFR will be better yet so I finally ordered one which is going to take quite a bit of DIY work to install. I almost did this many months ago but decided to try out the Cyborg, which is great but as mentioned, more research being done on it now.

I will DIY install the EFR by designing and making a manifold adapter and DP as well as any other parts needed when I get back to UT instead OTS from the UK. This is great as we will have the DIY and OTS EFR systems with a good tune to compare.

All goes well I will have some manifold adapters made along with DP's, etc for a pretty easy bolt on solution if there is enough real interested as in GB. If for some reason the adapter just does not work out as well I might build a very short runner tubular manifold to offer instead or as an option but only in a GB format.

Then we would be able to compare all three solutions and perhaps then have three choices to pick from depending on budget just for the EFR, the ATP kits and the Cyborg and looks like Cyborg II.

Fun times for us all:)

Rick

Thanks for everyone efforts....Following closely and interested in seeing how these differing approaches will actually compare to one another...

I really am quite impressed with the quality of Rodmoe's setup and looking forward to seeing his results as well...

Is it any heavier than stock?

Nope...similar weight....And as you can see in the pics the new knob is ~0.25" shorter than stock and is ~1.0" shorter than Cobb...Since the knob sits slightly shorter the "throw" now feels slightly shorter (btw...I also have Boomba's short shift adapter plate)...The Lathe Werks knob also has a much nicer feel and grip to it compared to both the stock and cobb knobs...

If your looking for a weighted knob Lathe Werks also offers those options as well! I just didn't want the added weight...

With the DIY coupling nut mod for around $10 you can raise and stiffen the shifter base as much as you want from 1" to 2.75" max and not effect the throw at all. At 2.75", or so, the boot gets a bit tight, higher levels would require a taller boot.

Then the shorter shift knob does not make the shifter to low if that is an issue for anybody and it does not make the shift throw longer like the extensions on top of the lever do.

That EFR pic makes me want to get back home and get mine done:)!!!!!

I got it installed after getting a ratchet. It was difficult and my hand is a little tender but it's in nice and snug. The noise is pretty loud but it's fun. I really enjoy it so far.

I just had my Injen cat-back exhaust installed. I love this thing. I know a lot of you guys aren't fond of the single tip, but I personally think it looks great and the sound, in my opinion, is the best (next to Cobb's exhaust, of course).
