That's awesome. I'll be keeping mine then and having a professional do it, that's you. Ha.

Do you have the actually address real quick?

Dang, I was hoping to not have to take off my o2 sensors. You have to take off the sensors to get the heat shield off? I thought that was just for Downpipe installs... Transferring the sensors to the new DP. I am not putting a new DP, just wastegate.

The manifold heat shield is a chore. I didn't remove my cowl or O2 sensors, but you can't see much that way. My hands/arms are skinny, though. I removed a few of the dp shield bolts so the manifold shield could be removed. You can get to the lower manifold bolt easier from under the car. When I finally twisted the manifold shield out of the way, I didn't remove it from the car, just had it out of my way. The biggest chore was lining up the twisted manifold shield to bolt back on the engine. My arms were scratched like a cat fight.

Jay I think it might be best if you just take it in for an install. I think you are overthinking the job and making it look harder than it actually is.

So if I don't want to mangle my heatshield, I have to remove the sensors?

I tend to overthink things I don't have experience with... But negative on getting someone else to do this.

I put mine on today didn't remove the cowl...there is plenty of room to work.

Also installed intake/exhaust/downpipe/race intercooler. If your familiar turning wrenches its not a difficult job by any means. Honestly the worst part of dealing this this car is getting the heat shield on and off. If this your first time tackling working on a car I would leave it for a shop to do.

I can't get the heat shield out. The turbo water lines are in the way. I managed to move it enough to reach the WG but i didn't have the correct tool to remove 1 of the stock WG nut. So I had to put everything back on.

Use a 10mm box wrench it's a tight fit you can only get a 1/4 turn at a time. As soon as your break it loose you should be able to just spin it off with your finger

don't give up. I liked how you tackled your intercooler install. You can do it, just take time. In the end you'll have greater appreciation.

Alright this is where I'm at... Can't really do much with the wastegate because the water lines are blocking removing the heatshield. Any tips?

I would recommend putting a clean shop towel in the inlet to the turbo to prevent anything from falling in. As far as the heat shield, be patient and expect to have to bend it some to pull it out. And don't worry, you'll have just as much fun reinstalling it.

The heat shield bends pretty easily. You'll have to do that in order to get it out, just be careful around the water lines.

Don't be afraid, get in there and try. Can't have guidance throughout every project you do. Just gotta try and do it, we've all messed up before. That's how you learn lol

Def put a rag in that intake pipe.

There is a bolt on the top of that hard line that you can remove and you will gain a 1/2inch more room to get the heat shield off. Just keep fighting with it, It will come off. It's just as bad getting it back on as well.

I've had my heat shield off for many months now knowing I was going to switch to a tubular manifold. With the heat shield off there is not much of a difference in intake temps unless if you are sitting at a light

Thanks for the advise... I already took that off hoping I would gain some room but I still failed to get it off. I had to button it all back up... Except I couldn't get the bolt underneath threaded back on and I ended up slicing my finger open as well.

To get any room I think I really have to get the Downpipe heat shield off which means removing the o2 sensors... Which gives me more questions.

How do you take the cable off the o2 sensor? Do you just pull on it... Worried about the cable before I attempt to unscrew it. I already know I need to soak it.

Also my biggest problem getting the Downpipe heatshield off is the bolts on the right side... I just can't reach them, even with my pivot sockets. The ones on the left are easy. My hands are all sore and cut up and I really don't like taking off that cowl. Those clips bite into the plastic and are hard to take on and off without mangling the plastic.

Also, since I have the DHM race bar, the headlight mount clips wiggle more making it much harder to reinstall the headlights. When I attempt this again I need to line everything up. Is the heatshield possible to remove if I can get the Downpipe shield off?

The o2 sensors both clip into plugs on the right hand side of the engine you just have to unplug them. Don't pull on any of the wires. Use a specific o2 socket to remove the sensor from the downpipe though. I replaced my downpipe so I removed the sensor before the car with the pipe still attached and then removed the sensor after the cat while the pipe was off the car. Make sure they soak good in penetrating oil...mine came off no problem but other have mangled theirs. Hope this helps some

I considered leaving my heat shield off because it kicked my butt, but i wondered if it would affect the hpfp & lines right above the manifold, so I muscled that s.o.b. back on.

Like tundra said, the wires coming off the o2 sensors unclip. Just follow the wires and you will see. I bought an o2 sensor socket but ended up just using a small adjustable wrench. Easier for me
