Well I spent a few hundred dollars on a Zeitronix ECA-2 Kit, hoses and adapters as per r$&@#labs write up ( not sure if I can say the name :)). Also bought a sound symposer delete from Dead Hook Motorsports. My New Years resolution is no more spending on my car....for a while and to stop smoking cigarettes.

Just say Voldermort. I purchased the ECA gauge and wiring from Zeitronix and the sender through Chevy parts. I'm going to mount mine either in the glove compartment or in the cubby hole below the AC controls. Not something that needs to be watched all the time, just when selecting a tune. I still need to buy the Cobb Tuning software.

I plan to mount it in the cubby hole myself. I will probably pull the console and custom fit it as I already have a wiring hole cut in it inside the cubby. I'm gonna use the symposer tube that runs to the cabin as my feed through for the wiring. I should have all the parts by Dec 30. I'm excited, lol. Doesn't take much :)

Just installed Boomba's Short Shift Adapter...A quick and easy install and I was surprised as to how much of a difference a 20% reduction in throw makes....just enough for me...

Rebuilt my DIY DP, about 90% of the time it took to build is the first time as only used the flanges and part of an elbow.

Catless for now as looking for why my turbo spools a bit later and much less torque than I should have. I much prefer to run a cat so will look into it a bit again later, I had a 5" diameter 100 cell metal core cat and it was possibly just to big though I figured bigger would be better it might not be the case it spreading the exhaust out so far.

RAAMaudio .

I'm having an issue where sometimes my exhaust is smooth and quiet and other times it is loud and annoying in the cabin.
Can you help me out with sound deadening placement to kill some of the noise?

thanks.

Any info from anyone is welcome though.

Hatch cars by nature are louder and more difficult to deal with road noise, exhaust noise can be of very high acoustical energy and the ST has more solid suspension bushings which transfer more noise as well so it takes some serious effort to do a good job. BUT, done very carefully it does not have to add a great deal of weight.

The hatch is by far the most important area, cabin vents hidden under the bumper cover are open whenever HVAC is used with air coming into the car and noisy even if not but less so.

That area in this car is rather hidden so I stuffed acoustic foam sections in to the void there, making sure to allow air flow, then sealed up some of the access so air had to flow through areas where I could add more of that foam and/or mat and the Ensolite foam.

I also seal up under the hatch door with mat and foam and then add more of each, as needed, on the hatch floor, not as much mat as it might seem, only resonate prone areas need it, very solid ones do not.

I cover all I can with the Ensolite including back of trim panels, back side of hatch covers, etc....the more the better.

I will probably glue the acoustical foam to the back of the cargo cover as well.

---------------

Next areas are more important than it might seem even with the more sealed design of our doors and under the dash can really help out.

Then do the doors, it does not take a great deal, then under the dash, a bit of mat on resonate prone parts like ducts, use tie wraps on anything that might resonate, Ensolite on all I can reach. Acoustical foam panels stuff in where I can get them, best it a dash removal but just poping out the glove box and knee bolster on the drivers side helps get to quite a bit more of the area. Make sure to allow for air flow.

To go further would be to add Ensolite on the bottom of seats, any hard surface you cover the better. put sections of acoustical foam under them as well.

Foam I use, used to at least, they dropped the bigger more affordable sizes but this is great low weight and effective stuff and still quite reasonable, I will have a lot in my like under the new back seat to rear of the car alumalite floor I am making.

For most owners I would get 8 or so sheets, maybe more.

-----

I found it in bulk for a much better deal, there are lots of places in the home to use this as well.

I need to dig up the pictures of what I have done so far and put them in the right section on the site here.

If OK I can post the link here to the fitment guide and how to guide but they are on a site I own though retired, if not cool, they are in the classifieds area for under best sound deadening for the money.

I have personally deadened dozens of vehicles and helped tens of thousands of others plan out their projects so have a pretty good idea on doing this stuff:)

No matter how much deadening is done there still could be more noise than your particular comfort zone is OK with so an exhaust mod could be in order.

Example:

I had a 5" cat, true 3" DP to exhaust tip, 5" dia resonator and ss packed Borla race muffler with Vband for quick release.

It sounded great with the muffler off and straight pipe on but under deceleration there was a very surprisingly loud resonance issue, far to loud for a street car. With the muffler on far more tolerable and great, only a bit loud on occasion, that little race muffler was more effective than I thought it would be.

I deleted the cat yesterday to see if I can get the turbo to spool a bit faster and bring back some missing torque, will make a run as soon as a bit warmer outside, it idles louder, is a bit louder under revs while parked, sounds great, I hope not to loud when driving, if so I will have to put on a bigger muffler.

---------------

Sometimes this noise issue can be a real bear to deal with, sometimes easy, sometimes it takes a few trails and errors.....
