Hot side charge pipe bracket broken

Edit: please excuse the typo in the title(bracket)
So I was doing an oil change today when I noticed the mounting tab on my Cobb hot side charge pipe that mounts to the engine had snapped off. Also the nut that held it in place along with the tab are completely gone. I have no way of knowing which went first, but the charge pipe doesn't even wiggle so I'm not worried about it. Has anyone else had this happen?

This is now the 3rd person I've seen in like 2 weeks posting about this.the other two posted pics in the MAPerformance charge pipe thread. Contact Cobb and see if they will warranty it. COBB Tuning

Guess I should have probably searched before I posted. But thanks for the feedback. As for getting it replaced I'm not worried, I grabbed ahold of the pipe and its rock solid. My guess is it probably happened when I had so pretty bad wheel hop.

Oh I wasn't meaning you shouldn't post. You definitly should have. I just meant I'm surprised now hearing of 3 Cobb defective charge pipes. And all of you have said your not worried about it but companies like Cobb have great customer service and quality standards so I'm sure they would love to know about this lapse in quality or address why it might be occurring.

I think the problem may just be inherit with the solid one piece charge pipe mounting to the engine. I mean the engine moves, given the turbo moves with the engine and the pipe also mounts there, but that's a relatively more flexible joint. I think having the solid mount to the bottom of the engine, which moves, and attached to the intercooler which doesn't is probably the route cause here. It could be argued that the connection to the intercooler is also flexible, but not in the direction that the engine moves. If I recall correctly the stock pipe had a length of rubber hose between the engine mount point and the intercooler which would give it some more give as far as movement goes. Honestly I think that's probably why they tied it to the engine, to keep it from flopping around. IMO with a single piece solid pipe the engine mount is unnecessary. Especially considering mine broke sometime in the last 3k miles and I never noticed until I saw it. Haha

I noticed on my buddy's Fiesta his charge pipe bracket was broken. I was installing his downpipe and noticed the broken bracket. He has a Cobb RMM as well.

He had the Cobb charge pipes. Same thing as the OP showed in his pictures. Except the bolt was still holding the broken bracket to the engine.

Out of curiosity do you have a RMM or just stock?
Cobb RMM (REM) with about 15k miles on it. I should really get around to making a signature. Just spent too much time lurking without contributing. Haha

I am one of the two who posted in the MAP thread, and mine broke as well. Less than 2000 miles since install of my charge pipes, and I am not too worried since the charge pipe seems to be on solid and I have the RMM.

I have bigger issues right now to tackle though, since both of my axle seals are leaking.

Pretty sure those seals need replacing while installing a limited slip diff..... just a thought...

I broke mine within 2000 miles of installing it. Since the pipes are still good, I'm not worried about replacing it at the moment.

You guys aren't worried that your Cobb pipes just snapped off? Or am I not understanding something?

No, not really. I would just be worried if a part on my car snapped. But I panic about everything so that makes sense. Ha.
Now if the pipe was flopping around without that bracket it would concern me. Or if the bracket didn't break and decided to kink the pipe instead and cause a boost leak, that would suck(or blow rather). But as it sits, I think this is the lesser of several evils.

My thoughts too. Hell, the way I see it, I just lost a few grams in weight by removing that little bracket and stud nut...lol

I panic too. I deleted one of my post related to my axle seal leaks because I was wound up about it when I posted. Most of the time I should give myself a day to think through the issue before posting and to save myself any embarrassment by over thinking things...lol.
