Im considering purchasing this catback, love the price, dyno numbers and diameter pipe. Im not sold on the sound though... Any first hand experiences? Im 19 and drive pretty enthusiastically so id like something aggressive but not too intensely loud. Also any experiences with the mishimoto OCC or any other OCC. Constructive responses are appreciated.

On a scale of kitten meow to top fuel drag car, what do you consider "intensely loud?"

Essentially Anything thats obnoxious to listen to is what im getting at. Especially on longer drives and highway trips but overall someone whos owned it for awhile would have a good idea

Tastes vary between people which is why I gave a scale. I've had my MBRP for probably 8-9 months now. It doesn't bother me... I love it. But to me, it's not loud. Others find it loud and obnoxious.

Obnoxious to me would be daily driving a cammed out LSX with open dumps.

Here's the top of your scale. ;)

e30, M60B40 V8, custom headers to dual 3" to a single 3"x2 in/out muffler with x-piping in it.

Yeah I'ts definitely all preference, My friend on Wheelwell with the MBRP on his FiST got pulled over in California and got a ticket for being over the decibel limit and had to add a muffler to it, and I heard one in person at a meet and it sounded amazing and not too loud to me. I'm getting it too mainly for the price. There might be a bit of drone with the long freeway drive I have to work, but nothing a little sound deadening and a sub can't fix.

You all should've heard my internal wastegate atmosphere dumptube to 3 inch downpipe to 3' (yes, 3 foot) exhaust with turndown tip on my 91 Galant VR4 with a TD04 60-1 turbo. And I daily drove it to work. To me, that wasn't "loud". The turbo made it sound like an orchestra! [twothumb]

Loud is a heavy bridge ported 13b on a Holley 4 barrel.

I went with the MBRP XP series after watching the install and review on YouTube. It's a good level of low aggressiveness without being too annoying when you step on it. IMO it's the perfect balance on this car.

I picked up a MBRP for my Fist and was dissapointented in how quiet it is. But I've also been driving a pullied up Lightning with straight pipes dumped before the axle, for the last 2 years. So the combination of blower whine and exhaust roar usually makes people's ears bleed when you stomp on it. Everything is relative for different people like others here have mentioned.

I have been very happy with mine. I got the stainless for $ 399.00 shipped when they had the special, and I think it is a great system for the money!!!

Thought the lack of a muffler would make it louder but i guess the resonator has the same/similar effect. And yea id expect to be quite loud

one word .... DRONE. in the 3-4k rpm range is TERRIBLE! normal driving around under 3k rpm is fine really, and if you catch it on the right downshift and speed it pops pretty nice.

See, and not everyone has drone, relatively speaking. I removed the mufflers from my 06 R/T Charger and that rattled my ear drums when half the engine cut off for the "Eco mode." On my 2.0T Genesis Coupe I had a straight pipe cat back... That made me go nuts on the highway. I sold it in 3 months time.

I'm also interested in this exhaust but am too concerned with the noise. I like loud vehicles (y'all should hear my Ducati haha) but am nervous about drone.

So I have two questions for MBRP owners that I and I think the OP would be interested in:

How loud is the exhaust, ranking 0-11? Where 0 is electric car quiet and 10 is Harley with straight pipes loud. I don't know what 11 would be, but I wouldn't like driving it.

And how is the drone, 0-11, where 0 is no drone and 11 is so droney your head will explode.

These rankings go to 11.

Oh shoot and one more thing to MBRP owners; if you're kind enough to post a response, what downpipe are you running? I'm told that can make quite a bit of difference in sound.
Also how much popping and burbling is there? I love that stuff. My bike does it literally every time I'm coming down the rev range and I still love it.

Mbrp with ATP catless and it dosent bother me or the wife. It does drone a bit if you are doing 80+ on the highway (which I assume most exhausts would) but turn up the music and stop being a pansy! Also all my Focus friends are jealous of all the pops bangs and flames I shoot [emoji5]
