Took the FiST to the drag strip this evening to see what all the mods could accomplish. Now keep in mind this was my first time drag racing and since I've only been driving stick for a few months these times could be drastically improved. Only got 2 runs in before a civic blew up and covered the track in oil and stopped everything.

Run 1 (first ever pass down the track)

No burnout. The tree caught me off guard and I bogged off the launch, chirped up to 5000 rpm then broke loose for the rest of 1st, broke loose going into 2nd and spun half of it before getting a bite. Normal shifting from 1-2, flat foot shifting the rest. Let off just before crossing the line cause I seen the first speed trap and thought I was done lol. All In all a pretty horid run.

Run 2! (Now I'm really nervous cause I'm embarrassed after the 1st run)

Small burnout. Used the COBB launch control for this one but didn't slip the clutch and started spinning almost right off the line and well into 2nd, same shifting as before and actually kept on the gas the whole way this time lol. Was hoping for a quicker run but got pretty much the exact same .

Was almost too embarrassed to post these times as stock FiSTs are running quicker but hopefully someone out there is in the same boat as me and now knows they're not alone. I need A LOT more practice, and slicks wouldn't hurt either lol

What did you do to your Fiesta ST today?

Practice makes perfect....though I haven't raced the FiST yet, I probably have 500+ passes down the 1/4 and 1/8th mile. Don't be embarrassed. Even the most experienced have bad runs. Biggest thing, work on you 60' and shifting. You would be well into the 14's if you get that 60' down 2-3 tenths. It also looks like you are blowing the tires off from 1-2 and maybe 2-3 by the look of your 1/8th ET. Also, that nervous shaking of the clutch foot will go away with a few passes, lol

BTW, while you are getting used to drag racing, don't worry about the reaction time, as it doesn't affect you ET or trap MPH. You can focus on that later.

The tires are definitely taking a beating, all first gear and most of 2nd was just spinning. I'd attribute it partly to my launches lol, but when I backed off they'd bite again till i got over 5000rpm then just break loose. Even from a roll I find they'll do that maybe just too much torque. Or that's what I'd like to tell myself haha. And I'm glad that goes away haha

Yeah, 17" inch wheels and low profile street tires are better for the curves for sure, lol.

How's the sound of the intake? And are you happy with the intake? I think i might go Mountune's route or Cobb's. Just waiting for them to release theirs.

And I see your Cobb RMM says roll resistor, what is that? Self mod? And how do you like the quick shift from Mountune?

What did you do to your Fiesta ST today?

It sounds good and I like it. Not as loud as the Injen intake, but still audible. I liked the Injen as well but with the heat outside and stop and go traffic, the throttle response loss from heat soak was very noticable. The mountune retains the closed air box so it doesn't take in engine heat. The Cobb RMM is really a roll resistor, not so much a mount. I like the quick shifter very much. I makes the shifts shorter and easier to reach as well as makes the shifting a little firmer. Only downside for me is that I though the quick shift was more of a pain to install than the intercooler, charge pipes and intake combined, lol

Yeah I heard it was a bitch to install but I really want it. And good to hear about the intake; just waiting for Cobb to release theirs than make my decision. I'm sure they will be around the same price.

And I have the RMM, just haven't had to installed yet. Can't wait for that time though. Only heard great things about it.

And is the intercooler a direct fit? No modifications needed? I've seen other threads where people had to cut, bent, or shave off some parts for the intercooler to fit properly. I really don't want to go down that route.

Yes, the intercooler is a direct fit. No modifications.

I haven't been able to go WOT or drive aggressively with the Stg 3 yet as I am still waiting for my back ordered upstream o2 sensor from Ford.

Did alot of basic appearance mods a couple of days ago. Put on my DMB Graphics emblem overlays on the front and rear, put one on my steering wheel, put them on my wheels as well. Also applied yellow fog light film. Debadged Fiesta and took off the dealer sticker. Also tightened my boost hose clamps and holy crap were they loose. I was able to spin a few by hand. Also installed the Boomba BOV adapter. It's so loud!

How was the yellow fog installation? Did you get the lamin-x ones?

I used the ones from Headlight Armor. They were a dry install and pretty easy to put on. Just start in the middle and slowly work your way to the outside. They look really good. I'll have pics later!
