Which brand is that, or did you custom fabricate it yourself??
It's the SS-Tuning gear knob. You can customise a lot of it. It's moulded to your hand.
Can choose carbon fibre/gloss black. Colour of the numbers, logo, stitching, piping around the insert. Alcantara or smooth leather, you name it! Comes with the boot too!

How does the weight of that pretty knob compare to oem-heavier or lighter? And does it work perfectly with the reverse lock-out?
The weight is almost identical, without a scale I can't tell the difference. This carbon one has a better feel in hand because of the slightly larger size. It fits the reverse lock-out like the stock knob did.

Is this burning desire for a 10 lb. shift knob exclusively a FWD cable-type shifter thing??! [???:)]
When I had a RWD, shifter directly into the gearbox setup, I always tried to find the LIGHTEST shift knob possible in order to take stress off of the internal rail of the transmission, as well as all of the pivot points of the shifter itself, especially over really bad/bumpy roads!!

Never heard of a 10lb shift knob, but I had a ~500g TWM shift knob on my rwd '92 skyline gts-t and it felt great for the 5 years I owned it.
I also had a C's solid shift kit on it that I installed day 1 and if I remember correctly, there is a collar with bushings that hold the pivot point of the shifter in place so I really don't see how it could cause any damage to the transmission itself. Never had any issues with it. It also had quite a few miles on it so you'd think the effect of a weighted knob would be worse for the parts you mentioned. I'm not mechanic/engineer though.

In the end, it is all personal preference. I personally like a little heft to my shift knob as it feels better and performs better for me.

Some one has Read somewhere on the forum. It took the dealership quite a bit of work to make it fit. They took off the reverse lock out so he has to tap it into reverse
Lol yea I read up on it already that was a few months ago or more I think.

Bought this off someone on the forums. It's the Lathe werks Copolymer(?) Knob, it's exactly how I was going to spec mine, so I was stoked when I found it in the classifieds. It feels great, and now I just need to get a short throw kit and I'll be beyond happy.

That is awesome. I have their sphere knob but I'm really liking this one and that's exactly how I'd spec it also.

You happen to know the full spec list by any chance??

Not entirely- but here's my guess from the website: Hybrid Piston Knob, Black Copolymer Top (Feels more ceramic than anything), 3 knurled bands, and the red shift pattern. That being said when I first put it on the shift pattern was facing the wrong way- copious amounts of loctite and now its solid in the correct position. I don't know if that was a fluke because the person I bought it from had a 14' and it screwed in perfectly, where as in my 16' I had to fiddle with it.

Friend of mine sent me these samples to see if I like it and get opinions. No weight as of yet. Both are slightly heavier than stock.
