What if the baseline tune is giving me all of that already?! Lol

I know max boost will be bumped up some but as far as the timing, it was my understanding that the less the timing advances, the better the tune for the fuel and mods. Correct me if I'm wrong or confused.
Yes the 1st tune will be better than the OTS "one size fits all" cookie cutter tune which are pretty much designed to be super safe but also cover a wide variety of variables (no two cars are the same, variables in mods, quality of fuel etc etc). My 1st tune from Adam tripped "cat efficiency" and "exceeded torque target values" check engine lights. That's easily fixable. I don't know your mods so I can't speculate on what kind of boost you should be making but after many revisions (14 in all), I see 25-26 psi regularly with a pretty decent taper. I only see this amount of boost at low rpm (the infamous donkey kick). This provides a (sh*t eating grin) increase in torque over the OTS stage 3 tune. Timing advance can be smoothed out to enhance driveability, so there is more than just peak power to consider. Normally your baseline tune will have less advance and less boost than you will ultimately end up with once your tune is finalized. This is just to be safe while the tuner looks at all the different variables they can look at via datalogs.

FWIW, I've experienced better fuel economy with the custom 93 octane tune than with the OTS. I can't tell yet with the E30 map because I'm still doing datalogs (and it is a whole different ball game as far as power is concerned lol).

I'm sure Adam will chime in at some point but he is out of town and his internet isn't that good.

FWIW, I've experienced better fuel economy with the custom 93 octane tune than with the OTS. I can't tell yet with the E30 map because I'm still doing datalogs (and it is a whole different ball game as far as power is concerned lol).

I agree with this. I average about 33-35 mpg after my stage 3 93 tune from Adam.

Donkey kicks happen very fast. Similarly, our baby turbo spools so quickly that you go from no power to all of the power quickly.

Lol, well I asked because every so often, while I'm cruising and I mash the throttle, my neck will snap back as the exhaust lets out a loud 'bark' and then the power drops...it's not linear and smooth. It all happens quickly so I cannot see what the boost pressure is. It's an odd situation and resembles being kicked by a donkey if you will. Wasn't sure if this was a documented thing penned a 'Donkey Kick'

What you are describing sounds like it could be the throttle closing, but yes the "donkey kick" is when boost comes on full tilt at around 2500 rpm. It's short lived fun but because the stock turbo is so small that power drops off drastically over 5000 rpm.

Are you guys only going downhill to get the gas mileage you are reporting? I'm getting 26 on 91 octane and 23 on e30. I'd probably get 30 if all I did was drive on the freeway. I drive 70 miles per day. My average MPH is 48

Well I drive normal probably 85-90% of the time. If you drive like a pissed off teenager you will get low mpgs.

Freeway driving, normal roads. Speed ranging from 25-80. A lot of the roads by me are 45 mph with stop lights every so often. I also live close to the water, pretty flat land. I'm not sure why you get so low mileage. My car is currently at the dealer having the transmission looked at but once it's back to stage 3 I'll gladly show you what I average during a normal week of driving

I get about the same as westcoaST, 27/24. The 27 is the same I normally do with the OTS 91 too. I'm not quite as pissed LOL!

I get 36 mpg on 92 octane with a 39 average mph (thanks to the I-205 parking lot every evening), but I'm not MAP tuned.

Sorry for the delay, I have been on vacation since last Tuesday. Thank you all for chiming in and helping out. I did want to touch on the subject of ignition corrections. That will vary car to car during the E-tuning process. As I add more borderline timing, the ignition corrections will be less. I actually prefer the ignition corrections be low, that means the borderline timing is dialed in. I do however change it up when I tune a car. I found some new ways to utilize the ignition corrections to really get things moving faster. So, not every car is going to be the same, what you are going to want to look out for is NEGATIVE ignition corrections.

If i buy the lifetime for $250 as I upgrade my parts I can continually get a re-tune? I'm only stage 1 now, but in desperate need of more power !!

I just did this and from my understanding it's for life. I'm in process of starting my stage 2 tune and then when I go stage 3 next year I'll be going through it again!
