I've never owned anything except Japanese cars, but the Fiesta ST has my blood pumping. I get Car and Driver, Automobile and Motor Trend. They all say the Fiesta ST is more fun than a Focus ST. I'm going to purchase a Fiesta ST in 2-3 months. I've done some research and checking around, but I wanna hear from you guys. What are the first things I need to purchase and add to my Fiesta ST to make it a better car to drive? I currently own an 04 Subaru STI, so I'd like a little more HP. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Get a Cobb access port and that's all you need for stage 1... Stage 2 requires a FMIC, which there are some affordable options around 500 bucks. For stage 3 you need a downpipe (there are catted and noncatted options), and they say an exhaust and intake but I've seen a few people stay stock there as they both seem to move decent air. Get a custom tune for stage 3 and put in an RMM and your set.

My buddy just traded his 1 year old STI for a 15 focus ST on Saturday.

Must mods: rear motor mount, Cobb AP

To make the car more fun: stage 3 + pro tune, lighter wheels/better tires, Tb motorsports/pierce suspension mods

BTW the forum is nice and civil.

One thing to ask what is your budget? You could go straight to Cobb Stage 3 or progress there slowly via Cobb Stage 1 or buy parts and create it yourself. The access port is a must, if concerned about warranty (which I doubt but maybe) Mountune offers the access port with a tune and many many Ford warranty parts, albeit more expensive. There are many cheaper alternatives to Cobb FMIC and lastly pick up an OCC, several have been released as bolt on to the Fiesta ST.

First of all, Welcome Aboard.

Many have asked what is the best mod; how can I get the most bang for the buck?

I too would suggest that your first mod be a Cobb Access Port.
However I would also suggest that it be purchased from Montune USA.
This way you can have Randy Robles write the "Tune" for you.

I have had my car now for almost 2 years and admittedly I have a stage 3 set up.
I was using a Tune written by Randy for about a year and the performance was fantastic.

Although I was extremely pleased with the performance I decided to ask Randy to refresh the Tune.
I was thinking that after a year of working with the FiST he may have learned a few new tricks.
This has been the best thing I have done in a long time and well worth it.

I remember when I first added the Access Port, the car became a complete different animal.
Then adding Randy's custom Tune, the car again came alive.
It was hard to believe that it could be better than it was.

Well RANDY has done it again.
I am Just AMAZED that Randy has been able to pull even more performance out of this little Beast without any additional engine mods.
Once again it is like a whole new car.
I am certain that Randy has been able to increase the Horsepower and Torque I am absolutely sure he has put everything available in all the right places.

I guess the bottom line is.
It is not only what you buy but who you buy it from.

Welcome! I am stage 3 on a MAPerformance tune (which is still in the process of being dialed in). The Fiesta ST is one of the best "drivers cars" I've ever owned (and I've owned a ton of cars... including a Cobb RT-Spec WRX. [:)]

Welcome! Here is a little more indepth view and review of the car along with it's upgrade stages done by Matt with The Smoking Tire. I wouldnt pay attention to the actual HP numbers on the dyno but more so the differences in power between the stages. Enjoy!

Good choice! The guys who have posted already are extremely knowledgeable and really know their stuff.

For my 2 cents the very first thing I bought was the Cobb Accessport. My only regret was not getting the Cobb Rear Motor Mount that many sellers include as a package. I picked mine up from Modbargains - if you're going to buy either call them or work with our rep on this forum (you'll be glad you did).

My next big upgrade will likely be an intercooler, as an upgrade is needed to go any further. Still deciding on which one but leaning towards Deadhook Motorsport's. I really want a new exhaust, but it's not necessary at this point and my other garage toy takes half my money.

Basically just do a stage 3 with a protune and that should give you the power you would want.
This is where I am at and I couldn't be happier! [hihi]

Well, not literally of course. I'd love another 50hp up top and reduce the weight of my car by 100 pounds... [goofydrunk]

The first three mods I'd start with would be:

1. Cobb AP V3
2. FSWERKs short shift kit
3. Cobb RMM

Then I'd highly recommend a tune from Adam [MENTION=3178]maperformance[/MENTION] to get the most out of stage 1. If you buy the AP from him, it will come with a custom stage 1 tune which will be better than the OTS. Once you do a few other mods, you can do an e-tune and have him fine tune your vehicle. It will make a significant difference! [grinking]

Lol it holds you over for now
Yes for now, but I know the mod game well. I still want this car to deliver 30+ mpg and pull daily driver duty when needed. At this point I might be more inclined to commit to a weight reduction program instead of ohhhh, say a turbo upgrade. [wink] This car just does so many great things and I don't want to sacrfice one aspect for others (at least not until I get a second car...lol) [deviltail]

I do very much agree this car is a great all around performer. I plan to do little things down the road but mpg is very important for me since this is my dd and i driver over 100 miles a day. It is nice to have a another toy in the garage to keep me from going nuts an modding the DD
