Is an exhaust even worth it?

I have a resonated 3" Scorpion exhaust system coupled with a Cobb 200 cell downpipe. To me it sounds like sex. It's more exotic than "hey look at me I'm a nasty freak" of some of the others, but there was a time I might have prefered that to perhaps the sound of a Lotus Elise, for instance. hehehe. But since going with the downpipe I love it even more. Somehow Scorpion has managed to isolate all the high frequency "chatter" (ie: raspiness) which gives it a lower tone frequency which at WOT, near red line sounds frantic but clean. Not to say it isn't loud, because outside the car it's a good 13-14db louder but absolutely quiet and refined at cruising speeds (it doesn't lull me to sleep with drone or boominess). My youtube video of my Scorpion system does it no justice at all.

Are u in UK? Also how much did you get it for? That's an expensive exhaust for this car.

Now it does have more gurgly pops and rediculousness when you coast since adding the downpipe. I will try to get a new video up if I can convince the wife to hold the camera while I "drive off". I need to invest in a GoPro or something... heh. [burnout]

Nah, I'm in Texas. Expensive compared to what? FSWERKs? Cobb? Well, it is 3" catback system with a nice polished resonator. The cheaper offerings are 2.5" and no resonator. They also offer a 2.5" system as well. What sets it apart from all the rest is the muffler design and tips. The tips actually extend into the muffler section and has an internal splitter, instead of just a one into two "Y". Most of the decent other offerings have a single in, single out "Y" outlet and only 2-1/2 inlet/outlet. The Scorpion uses a 3" inlet and two 2.5" outlets. It can move alot of air and do it without being abnoxiously loud (and no drone cruising on the highway). The quality and craftmanship is the best I have seen in a long time. Yes it is more expensive (at $899.00) for a cat-back, but I can assure you you get what you pay for when it comes to performance, quality and sound. Edit: Added a couple pics. [pics?]

The only real issue I've had is that I have a UK version of the muffler section. The tips need to be extended another inch or so on U.S. cars because our Federally mandated crash standards require more bumper. EU/UK Fiestas have shorter bumpers and hence have shorter tips than U.S. spec cars. Eventually I will take the car to a muffler shop I trust and have them extend the tips for me. The longer tips are available on shipments to the U.S. thanks to my input (I was the first Fiesta ST in North America to fit test and give feedback to Scorpion).

Is the downpipe legal in ca where it's illegal just to change cat/s. The downpipe gets rid of or changes the cat correct?

I don't think there is a downpipe currently available with or without a cat that legal in CA. I'm just going to put the stocker back on when it's time to smog.

The videos are never going to do an exhaust system justice. Come to some meet's, listen to the individual sounds from each car. I love my MBRP. I think its the best sounding for the lowest price because a lot of these kits are ridiculously expensive.
Have to agree with this. I have the t-304 MBRP on my FiST and it sounds amazing. Everyone I know who's heard it has agreed.

There are No CARB approved replacement performance Cat's for the FIST. There are downpipes which have a Cat in them but they are not CARB Approved and will fail a visual inspection.

Until it falls apart.

You can see it in my build thread. The tips are dual 3.5" SINGLE wall (which I prefer over double walled or curled)

The sound clip kinda sucks, but you get an idea how the tips sit flush with the valence...

Seen this a few times now. Is there quality issues with the MBRP? I've ran them in off road applications but only their T304 products never the 409 or tin foil (aluminized). There's issues even with the T304?

This thread: http://www.fiestastforum.com/forum/threads/5557-That-mbrp-quality

Pretty much sums up people's thoughts on the build quality. i.e. it varies, but there have been problems. The 409 or alum have obviously had longevity issues, but that's not the same issue at hand.

pelotonracer2 did you order direct from Scorpion or would you know a US seller?

I might just bite the bullet for that exhaust after I get the IC installed and a tune!
