I installed the cooler a week ago, will be testing it at Buttonwillow Raceway on black friday :)

I added some extra rubber padding on the lines and carved out the center of the bar where the cooler mounts:

Looking forward to your peak oil and coolant temps.
Thanks for picking up our oil cooler setup! Interesting tweaks, looking forward to your results from Buttonwillow!

Went back to Buttonwillow on black friday after installing the Mishimoto Oil Cooler. Some data points:

TLDR:
- Very pleased with the results! ... but this was on 50F ambient. I'm not sure this will be enough to track in SoCal's 100F+ summers. We'll see. Bigger radiator and hood louvers would be the next logical steps but it'd be ridiculous to have to go so far for a stock powered 1.6L turbo econobox.
- I did not log oil temps the first time around because I didn't have an Accessport and my AIM Solo only logs coolant temps on this car.

2:11 is a great time with a stock fieata. I haven't seen your vid yet but time should be on the table for a 2:10. I was going to do the oil cooler mod before Decembers event but doesn't seem to help a whole lot with the real problem with the fist..... radiator.

Excellent results, thank you very much for following up. Too bad about the low ambient temperatures, but it is nice to see you were able to get laps in without overheating the coolant/oil.

Yes, the radiator is definitely an issue as well. We are on it!

I'm an average driver, some 86CUP guys with similar spec'd cars to my FR-S are consistenly 2-3 sec faster than me. So I think a good driver could manage a high 2:07 on a stock Fiesta just with cooling mods.

Also forgot to mention that I'm running distilled water plus water wetter (0% coolant). When I went from OEM coolant to W/WW (everything else equal), peak coolant temps were not reduced, but the coolant temps recovered significantly quicker when off-throttle/coasting/taking a cool down lap.

I'm sure randy pobst could run a 2:05 with a stock fiesta. Lol
My goal is to run a 2:05 on my mods since I didn't keep the car stock. Wish I would have.

Good to know about your coolant. I'm on oem coolant and have to pit or do a full cool down lap to get the cars temps low enough for another hot lap.

Thanks Johny. Our goal is to get our pre-sale launched by next week. Our final iteration has proven to be a large improvement over the tiny stock unit. It will be great to see folks get in a full track day without concerns.

Here are some photos of my car with the Mishimoto Oil Cooler installed. It's surprisingly visible.

Oil cooler mounting?

mishimoto, I've read somewhere that the oil cooler itself is robust enough that you don't feel that rubber isolators are necessary. Is that correct, or have I misread? Just wondering about the long-term effect of it being rigidly mounted when most OEM oil cooler have isolators.

Great question. All of our direct-fit oil cooler kits are mounted in a fashion that is void of any bushing or isolator. We have put these kits through rigorous testing and have not found any issues with doing so. Providing some form of bushing would be a nice inclusion in terms of preventative measures, but we have no reason to believe issues will occur without one. Our coolers are typically secured in 3-4 points on the cooler to prevent any flex or substantial motion. I will pass this information on to our engineering team for potential inclusion if we deem it a valuable addition to the kit.

Thanks
-John

Thanks for the quick response. Have your oil cooler and planning on keeping it and the car for a long time.

I had 3 hours drive this morning from my home to the shop to install oil cooler. On my way there AMB was 60F and my oil temp was up to 217F when I was going 85-90 mph.
After installing Mishimoto Oil Cooler, Mishimoto OCC and replacing oil (AMSOIL Signature 5w20, 4.3 qts + additional 0.65 qts) I had same trip back home with AMB 80F.
Oil temperature quickly reached 216F even when I was driving 75-80 mph. I had few moments of 85+ during which oil temperature jumped 220F.
This was all in 6th gear, not even reaching 4000rpm.

The advertised 35F drop is just that - the advertising, not supported by real testing.
I hope it is effective during track days, where 4000-5000 rpm is a norm.
I have non-thermostatic version.

My oil Temps never went over 235 degrees on the track when tracking in January. I'll be tracking it this April with both the Oil Cooler and Radiator installed. I'll report back with real numbers and real stress driving. Five 25 minute sessions of 5000-7000 rpm abuse

Wow that's really disappointing. I'm still on the fence about installing mine after all these reviews.
