[MENTION=1848]mishimoto[/MENTION], have you gotten the red hose kits in off of back order? The lady who called me last week said that you should have them on the 8th. I'm just seeing if you have shipped those. Thanks

Just emptied mine for the first time last night. Roughly 1000 miles since install. There was maybe 1/2 teaspoon, probably more like 1/4 teaspoon of oil in the catch can. Definitely glad to not see more, but glad I have the catch can for what there is!

Neither of those will work... the hoses are 5/8"

The best way to check on this would be to give our customer service team a call at 1877GOMISHI (their hours are between 10am and 6pm). They would be more than happy to assist you with this as I do not have access to your order information. If you need anything else let me know!

If the can is tight that is the best/quickest way.
Removing the headlight is one way to do it! There are a few ways to empty the catch can so you have a couple options to choose which will work for your Fiesta.

Just emptied mine for the first time last night. Roughly 1000 miles since install. There was maybe 1/2 teaspoon, probably more like 1/4 teaspoon of oil in the catch can. Definitely glad to not see more, but glad I have the catch can for what there is!

I've had the Mishimoto can on for ~800 miles and about a month now. I decided to open it up to see the accumulation. To do this, I removed the passenger side headlight. Three bolts, took me about 3 minutes to get the headlight out including time looking for tools. T30 torx bit and a phillips head
screwdriver. THen there is plenty of room to stick your hand down there and unscrew the OCC.

The good news is that there was a small puddle at the bottom, but no serious accumulation of oil. Which is to be expected, I guess. The good news is that the catch can is catching oil, and the better news is that it is not catching that much oil, either. This means that despite the Mishimoto can being smaller than some of the other options out there, it doesn't really need to be that big.

I'm interested to see if accumulation increases as we get into the colder months of the winter.

We really appreciate the feedback and are glad that you're pleased with your catch can! What you are describing is about as much accumulation as we saw during testing, so you seem to be right on track with what we found. Thanks for sharing!

Catastrophic failure of catch can after 2396 miles. I went to drain it and discovered it hanging by the hoses. Mount has sheared off.



It did catch oil though...

I actually raised this as one my main concerns with mounting an OCC bracket to engine mount about 3 months ago in another thread....

Hopefully there is an easy solution...

I still haven't installed mine as I don't have a draining solution yet. I'm debating just selling it to be honest. Your thread has now definitly made me lean that way.

To be honest, it did it's job as far as catching oil, it's just the mount is not robust enough. My mechanics are confident they can custom fab a stronger, better bracket.

Man that sucks, I'm sure they'll make it right, just checked mine after about 1500km (1000miles) and had about 1 tbsp of oil/gas.

We don't have a direct fit kit for the 1.5L right now, but we have a universal catch can that should work just fine.

I have no doubt your can itself works well. I've used your other cans before. I just was hoping for the plug and play easy accessibility and Mishi quality I expected. So far 1 for 3.

Based on this photo, it looks like the outside radius of the bend is contacting the passenger side engine mount. This would tend to transfer vibrational stresses into the OCC mount. Slotting the holes that attach to the engine mount, and pushing the mount away from the corner shown as burnished in the photograph should eliminate the fatigue loading that appears to be responsible for the failure. A photograph of the fracture face would be helpful to tell if this is a fatigue failure. Perhaps even pushing the mount away from the corner, without slotting the holes would be enough to prevent failure.

I was thinking adding a gusset would also help relieve the stress along the axis and add strength.
