Truth, I was actually waiting for the FocRS to come out before I bought the FiST last Sunday. But my commuter truck started acting up, leaving me stranded here & there. So, the FiST was my best option for a small commuter, tunable, fun to drive car under $24k.

I'm still interested in buying the FocRS. When I test drive & it feels like I'm expecting it to feel. If my pockets can handle the extra payments during the time of the US release, it's still a possibility.

So 345bhp is what in real world Wheel horse power ? 310-320 after drive line losses?

Unless Ford was being modest (and they never are), with AWD it would be more like 280/290 if even that...so no worries you should be able to school these easily...lol

It certainly will be interesting to see what the base price of Focus RS will be when its finally available for sale in the Spring of 2016 here in US..

I've looked at CLA45's and none (unless used) can be found under 55k...supply and demand I guess.

Granted they havent test driven it, but the NASIOC forum had a Focus RS discussion months ago that was SEVERAL pages long of people saying Subaru needs to step up, I want this, id rather get this than a new WRX or STI. I have a feeling the FoRS will be a better experience to drive than the STI and will certainly be easier to work on. Beyond that its up in the air as far as reliability, capability, how well the aftermarket will adopt it, etc.

Hopefully this car is so great it makes Subaru step up their game and drop a direct injection 2.5 into the next gen STI with more power. The FA20T in the WRX is getting rave reviews.

Ford Motor Company has announced that the all-new Focus RS will sprint from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds, making the high-performance hatchback the fastest accelerating RS model ever.

The Focus RS will reach a top speed of 165mph powered by a specially engineered version of Ford?s new 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine delivering maximum power output of 350PS.

Ford also announced that the Focus RS is now available to order with prices from ?28,940.

The all-new Focus RS optimises acceleration by introducing Launch Control technology to a Ford RS model for the first time. The model also debuts new Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring, for outstanding traction and grip with unmatched agility and cornering speed.

The Focus RS is joined on display in Frankfurt by the full Ford Performance line-up for Europe, including the all-new Ford GT ultra-high-performance supercar, Focus ST wagon and 5-door models, and the multi-award-winning Fiesta ST.

?The all-new Focus RS delivers stunning performance and innovative technology at a price that will make both our customers and premium automakers look twice,? said J?rgen Gagstatter, chief program engineer for Focus RS. ?After experiencing the acceleration and cornering capability of the Focus RS, drivers will question the sense in spending almost ?10,000 more on a premium competitor.?

The Focus RS Launch Control system configures the vehicle?s chassis and powertrain systems to deliver the fastest possible acceleration, whatever the track conditions. The driver selects Launch Control from the cluster menu, engages first gear, applies full throttle and then releases the clutch. The system then delivers optimum drive -- including distributing torque through the AWD system, maintaining maximum torque using turbo overboost function, managing the traction control system, and setting the dampers.

To achieve maximum acceleration through the gears, a performance shift light in the instrument cluster alerts the driver when approaching the optimum upshift point of 5,900 rpm, and flashes if the engine hits the limit of 6,800 rpm.

The Ford Performance AWD system uses twin electronically-controlled clutch packs to manage the car?s front/rear torque split, and also can control the side-to-side torque distribution on the rear axle ? delivering the ?torque vectoring? capability, which has a dramatic impact on handling and cornering stability.

The AWD system monitors inputs from multiple vehicle sensors 100 times per second. To deliver optimum driving dynamics, Ford Performance AWD was calibrated alongside the car?s advanced Electronic Stability Control, in particular the brake-based Torque Vectoring Control system that works in parallel with the torque-vectoring AWD.

Focus RS drivers can select four different Drive Modes that configure the AWD system, damper controls, Electronic Stability Control, steering and engine responses, and exhaust sound to deliver optimum performance in road or circuit driving conditions. Normal, Sport or Track settings are available, alongside a special Drift Mode to help the driver achieve controlled oversteer drifts under circuit conditions.

The new 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine for the all-new Focus RS shares its fundamental structure with the all-aluminium four-cylinder engine in the all-new Ford Mustang and is significantly upgraded for the Focus RS to deliver 10 per cent more power. The engine features a new lowinertia twin-scroll turbocharger with larger compressor, enhanced air intake design, and a largebore high performance exhaust system.

Maximum torque of 440Nm is delivered between 2,000 and 4,500 rpm, with 470Nm available for up to 15 seconds on transient overboost during hard acceleration.

Developed by a team of Ford Performance engineers in Europe and the US, the all-new Focus RS is the third generation of Focus RS cars, following models launched in 2002 and 2009.

The Ford Performance organisation serves as an innovation laboratory and test bed to create unique performance vehicles, parts, accessories and experiences for customers. This includes developing innovations and technologies in aerodynamics, light-weighting, electronics, powertrain performance and fuel efficiency that can be applied more broadly to Ford?s product portfolio.

The 30th car to wear the legendary RS badge, the Focus RS will be built in Saarlouis, Germany, and is one of 12 new performance vehicles Ford will bring to customers globally through 2020 as part of a new era of Ford performance. Ford expects delivery to European customers from early 2016.

WARLEY, Essex, 23 September, 2015 ? From the searing heat of Arizona to the icy wastes of the Arctic, from design studio to the crash lab, Ford Motor Company is revealing the behind-the-scenes story of the all-new Focus RS.

"Rebirth of an icon" shows the development of the latest generation of an automotive icon through a "warts and all" video documentary series covering every stage of the vehicle's evolution.

The inside story of the all-new Focus RS pulls no punches ? following the car across the world as Ford Performance engineers and drivers put it to the test under the scrutiny of RS consultant and Gymkhana superstar Ken Block and Ford's group vice president for Global Product Development and chief technical officer, Raj Nair.

"The Focus RS is a unique performance vehicle with an incredible heritage. This creates enormous expectation and intense pressure that demands teamwork, sheer determination and a single-minded focus on delivering the ultimate Focus," said Raj. "This access-all-areas documentary perfectly captures what is at times a bumpy ride."

Eight weekly episodes start on 30 September:

Episode 1: Project kick-off ? Ken Block and Raj Nair debate what the car should deliver, from behind the wheel of an early prototype

Episode 2: Design and development ? Crunching crashes put the new design to the toughest of tests

I went to my local Ford dealership to see if I could place an order. Both the sales and finance managers had ZERO clue with what's going on with the RS. They have no way of taking orders at this time. The finance manager told me that Ford is notorious for doing stuff like this in order to create hype.

At the dealer I work for we have all the info and order forms for the GT350 and GT350R Mustangs, but have scarcely more than a press release for the RS. We don't even have a finalized spec sheet yet, and no way to take a physical order. I'm wondering if maybe the release timetable is different for the UK and Europe?

Yeah, my dealer has 2 GT350Rs that will be here January. According to the sales manager he talked to someone high up at Ford who says they might not get the RS for up to 18 months from now.

Yeah the drum beat is sure getting louder and it should be fun following the release of the new FoRS!

And good point...By the time the FoRS is released here in the US there should be a number of aftermarket parts released along with the wringing out a few minor "issues" that always seem to slip by the development / manufacturing team...
