StopTech brake lines? Dig the red sleeves!

They are not StopTech, they are Techna-Fit (made in North America). George from [MENTION=3660]RaptorRacing[/MENTION] is getting them made. I'll be the test vehicle. He will have more details on pricing, they do come in various colours. Just waiting for a warmish day to install. Likely next weekend or the one after. I will install the lines only to see how they feel. Past experience shows there should be no degradation but likely no improvement other than looks and longevity.

April 6th 2017 Dash cam DR650C-2CH

Did the dr650-2ch wifi dashcam install. Very simple install for the front as I already had a hard wired dash cam. The unit came with a power block you set the voltage and time before it cuts off when not driving. The rear install was tricky for the wire. I almost cut it but ended up using a very large Philip screwdriver with a large amount of silicon grease to go through the driver side boot. Rest was pushing the wire in the trim using some heat the glue the cameras and setting up WiFi. WiFi set up is great to get the files off either direct to the phone or via their cloud for free via a hot spot. My router is strong enough to pick it up 100' from the house. It needed a firmware update but that was painless.

April 6th Mishimoto trunk brace

Installed the Mishimoto trunk brace. Honestly the thing I like the most are the 2 brackets to hold the sub floor. Now without installing back the two plastic holders the floor sits flush on the brackets and the spare without wobbling, giving you a ton more of cargo room. If you use that area for storage install the brackets and you are good to go. Everything fits perfectly. The install is very easy but you require a torx 50. Most kits only go up to T-45. It could work if you are careful but really just get the bit. They are around $4-8. As for the actual bracing I got it more for when the trunk is full of heavy items and want the loading on the shocks to be even when turning without the flexing. The Eibach rear sway bar already helps the flat rear when being aggressive combined with the Mountune upper and lower braces the chassis I now stiff. I am still on winter tires so I cannot push the car enough to test the stiffness as the tires are the weak point.

I think the only thing that holds me back from that bar over the other two available is price. Otherwise looks like a very quality piece.

Ohh I dunno One jack point... Now I know the car is light and I have other braces. THe drive with summer tires today was very flat cornering but I cant remember how it was last year. May have to take it out and do a back to back drive.

April 9th, New wheels, new tires, new lugs and new SS brake lines

Took a lazy Sunday (to damp to do spring cleaning to nice of a day to stay inside) to install new SS that I picked up from [MENTION=3660]RaptorRacing[/MENTION] , bled the lines with Motul 600 refill, installed the summer wheel setup. All and all everything went smoothly. Straightforward to work on this car. The brake feel was identical if not a little firmer faster. Could be lines, could be fluid, could be tires or could be placebo either way I am happy with the results as it did not get poorer. I still need to install rotors and pads but did not want too many changes on the brakes incase something feels wrong after and I would have too many failure points. This way I know the fluid and lines are good and bled well. The brake feel later will be rotors and pads.

The new wheels and summer tires after 200km are great, but coming from 15" tall side wall winters I think anything would be an improvement. But for now the Federal RS-R 215/40R17 grip very well (lateral, acceleration and deceleration) but more seat time is required. No rubbing at all. For now the road noise is low (again coming off winters has an impact) and likely the first 100-200km of normal drive is required to seat the tire on the road (get rid of the sticker glue, mold oils, etc...). PSA don't drive the wheel over a rag after taking the sticker off the tyre. You will think your tyre is messed up. (don't ask how I know).

And lastly new lugs, why not. Not sure I like them, but won them off an ebay bid for $20, so can't complain. I do have the stock, blue, orange and black ones as well. Once I figure what to do with the center cap I will go from there.

I do need to wash it but ran out of time and its about to rain most of the week. So next weekend will be a wash.

At least all of that rain will (hopefully) wash all of the damned salt dust off of the roads (again, hopefully ), once and for all this year!

You are still at factory ride height, and on full factory suspension, correct?

(I'm trying to get an idea of what my 215/40-17 595s on 17x8s setup will look like, as far as fender gap goes.)

Yes stock height and suspension other than the extra stiffness from the bars I've installed front and back.

Loving the Fereral 595 RS-R.
Been a fun few days with well over 500km of driving in either dry warm roads or torrential downpour. In dry conditions I cannot make them break or slip on the road. That is turns( fast or right hand into traffic) and straight drag. Trust me I tried as much as I could safely. In wet they can be made to slip in a sharp high speed corner but that is to be expected.

Straight line had no issues pulling from stop or any gear unless stooped at a light with lots of standing water on the painted lines. In normal puddles I did not notice any sign of hydroplanning. That said I would not push them in rain weather anyway but good to know they can take it is required to do an evasive maneuver. Note they throw a very thick fine mist behind you. Much more than my winters.

Road noise is not too bad. On highway you can hear them but much less than a winter.

Therefore unless they wear out insanely fast (less then a season) or if they get significantly worse as they wear I would highly recommend these for the value and if you want to put power to the road. 215/40R17 are the size I have.
For track I cannot say how much heat they can take but from what I read they can take quite a lot.

Some on here are claiming that Federal has now discontinued the RS-Rs, and will only carry the RS-RRs as their extreme performance summer/track autocross offering going forward, but I'm not sure that is correct or not.

Looking good as always CG. Been researching tires and these Federal (typo, Fereral? ) 595s are looking like a great option, possibly even year-round for me down here in warm Georgia USA.

I have not read that, nor is there mention of that on the Federal's website. Might be a size thing or a distribution thing. I know in Canada they are not carried by everyone.

1. Cost was $540 CAD all in (installed etc...) via a local tire shop.

2. Even thought the size is 215/40R17 the diameter size is almost identical to stock. via calculators it 1.3% bigger. Actually looking at the specs the 595 RS-R is 23.7 diameter where the potenza's are 23.4 therefore the difference is even less. That being said I don't see these making a difference one way or the other in MPG. It will depend on how you drive. Currently I have found new vigor with these tires and I am pushing the car much harder than what I did/could this winter.

I seem to recall last year you went with EZ Lip for the winter, figuring that you would have to take a regular splitter off every winter. It looks like you left the Mountune splitter on this year. While I know we didn't get much snow this winter (you probably got more than we did in Ancaster), do you think it's OK to leave it on year-round now?
