For the DV+ I say yes it's a good update under the following.

1- planning to keep the car a long time. Stock valve and spring are weak and will wear out over time.

2- consistently hitting high boost or have a high boost tune. Tracking the car especially. Again a stronger part that is more reliable.

3-want smoother quick shifting up or down. I have noticed and reviewed some graph that the valve releases the boost pressure about 3x slower(about 500ms to 1 sec) than the stock valve. If you shift in that time the spool up is much less. I find it easier to smoothly downshift now because of it.

4- if you have other supporting mods I say why not. Talking about cold and hot side pipping, upgraded inter cooler, a tune then it is a good step to do. But like the pipping the benefit are subtle but if you understand the need than it is a good enhancement.

Is it absolutely required? No. I got it for point 1 and 2.
Cool thanks, that's exactly what I expected. You're like me in that we buy some of our mods just for pure enjoyment and longevity, though they might not make hugely noticeable differences. I hear you on the reliability thing; I'm gonna put this one on the back burner and maybe pick it up in the future.

Hey again CG,

Another question about one of your mods...I see you have the Rally Armor mud flaps....could you comment on these after having them on the car awhile? I'm close to pulling the trigger on a set but after watching a few install videos and looking closely at some pictures it looks like they don't fit so well and maybe develop gaps over time. Wondering if this is going to be one of those mods that I'd be continually adjusting to make look right...if so I might hold off.

I appreciate it!

Actually it holds tight quite well but there are some tricks.

1- Place the molded piece on the car. To keep it tight use a silicone/glass glue in the channel and press it on the car. Leave it for 24 hours to set.
2- Test fit, test fit and more test fit. This is for the front flat. The flat bar holding the shape of the flat against the car wheel well needs to be formed. Take you time and form it. After a few days you may want to adjust it some more.
3- Use medium strength thread lock on ALL fasteners. This helps a bunch to keep everything snug.
4- Do not over tighten the nuts. This will cause the bar to bend or the flap to curl. Get them snug and tight but don't expect the nut not bottom out. Stop when the flap does not slide.
5- When washing the car clear the pebbles that may have bounced in behind the guard. Pull the flap forward and make sure nothing is stuck up between the flap and the liner. Very important

After a year+ of them on mine still look tight. I do have to readjust the front driver as a heavy stone hit the metal brace and bent it. That is why I have the flaps and the skid plate.

Even though the pictures are from last year, I can tell you they are still that tight other than the note above about the metal brace.

^^^Does it pay to multiple coat that one non-stainless steel backing plate piece in POR-15 to prevent it from rusting out in the salt soup of winter??

I was thinking about getting a set. But now that kind of just seems like a hassle. I mean adjusting for giant rock reasons is 1 thing but having to adjust it after getting it perfect just seems tedious.

Some pictures of the [MENTION=3407]VelossaTech[/MENTION] in action in Canadian winters. Lots of highway and city driving, lots of salt and sand on the roads, even the engine cover is caked. Only a little entered the box as noted in the snorkel bottom, however no moisture evidence on the filter at all. Extra sand in the box (as expected.). I had driven a few time where the front was completely covered as seen in previous posts. The filter was installed in October and I have a mesh screen between the big mouth and the ford snorkel to keep big items out (mainly bugs and such). All and all it passed with flying colours.

I always wanted to ask;

HOW is the FM/FM HD reception of distant/lower wattage stations with the 'shark fin' instead of the factory antenna?

Excellent Where I live it's on the fringe of many stations and this antenna is identical in performance.

March 27th - Ramair Dry Foam filter

Got the Ramair foam filter today. Aside from dropping a air box screw install is painless. Rubber is a little more firm then the OE filters so the box lid is not closed tight. Fits perfectly on the Mountune MP215 air box.

StopTech brake lines? Dig the red sleeves!
They are not StopTech, they are Techna-Fit (made in North America). George from [MENTION=3660]RaptorRacing[/MENTION] is getting them made. I'll be the test vehicle. He will have more details on pricing, they do come in various colours. Just waiting for a warmish day to install. Likely next weekend or the one after. I will install the lines only to see how they feel. Past experience shows there should be no degradation but likely no improvement other than looks and longevity.
