If I am not the first, the list has to be a short one. I crossed the threshold today.

Thoughts looking back.......

No more extended warranty
Everything under the car is bone dry (a first for me considering what the focus was like).
Replaced Coolant, plugs, interior air filter, and tranny fluid at 98,000 with all Ford stuff.

I am very proud to own this car.

Anything you can suggest to us lower mileage guys to keep an eye out for wear wise?

100k miles

Scariest moment?

Most fun moment?

Funny stories?

Anything else you want to share?

That's a crazy amount of mileage

Yours sounds like it is doing better than mine at 24k miles. I have an ever loudening whine coming from the drivetrain

Mileage and service update. So I am now at 175,000. As I had stated, changing jobs will dramatically drop the amount of mileage I was putting on the car. I am making arrangements to have the oil pan gasket changed, the radiator hoses and serpentine belt changed out and factory battery not far off when I start the audio system install. I am not having problems, but certainly this car is not superman, and sooner or later, something has to give. I am still on the factory clutch. About a month ago in my new area, I drove the car very spiritedly up and down 4th of July pass and the mountain that North 40 ski resort is located. The clutch did not give up once. I have to tell you being someone who was building clutches for the F-bodys, I seriously cannot believe this clutch is still hanging on.

I did finally swap out the fog lights, the factory ones were still working, I just wanted a little more light. I had some Xenondepot HID's which seemed to go wonkers after 6 months, so I threw those in the trash and bought a set of Dynamic Diodes. Hopefully those will last. The fogs got a 1400 Lumen LED. I didn't have any problems with people flashing before so I would not imagine I would now.

Thanks for the updates. Are you at 200k yet?

I'm cruising up onto 177k, im in abnormal jib now so I'm not racking them up as fast. I just swapped out the stock turbo for Mountune turbo.still on factory clutch, still on factory radiator hoses, still on factory serpentine belt and timing chain.

Congrats on making it this far! This car has a timing belt though, not a timing chain. And the service interval is 150,000 miles. Plus it's an interference engine. I'd really think about doing that belt!

What he said.
I'd be terrified of the belt at 170k [emoji23]

Ok, I do check it, normally when they get that silver tint look I go to change it, but this does not look bad, it still has the dull color, there are no threads, no silver tint. Im not going for a marathon, I bought some mountune yellow hoses to replace the coolant lines and I was going to replace the serpentine belt when I did thoughts at 200K. I am going to the let the dealer do both. Now If I understand what your saying, there is the belt that drives the accessories and there is another belt not a chain that is used between the crank and cams? It is my intention to rebuild the motor in March or April of next year provided the new turbo doesnt make me do it earlier, but I dont think it will. I will be looking at either a 1.8 upgrade from the 1.6 to bring the torque on a little earlier to match the new turbo, or I will jump right in and swap a 2.3 in here. It just depends on what is available at the time. The 2.3 is available in so many cars that may be the better option. Well just have to see when that time comes.

You also have to remember I have not had any issues out of this car. Not One. So I am feeling pretty good about it.

Yes, the cams are driven by a belt attached to the crank, instead of a chain.
When they wear down they can jump between grooves, leading to bent valves and smacked pistons.

Did you market and sell those clutches privately, or did you have a company?

IF I were able to keep my LS1 Z28, it eventually would have had the Tony Mamo modified RPS setup in it.
I wish that someone would make up an aftermarket clutch like that one for our rides, instead of having to rely on Spec, which I refuse to install in this car (would rather use Ford Motorcraft factory kit ;) ).
