Classic Chi Squared distribution. Good to see a few old fogies on board. Old hotrodders never die, just have to learn gears 5 and 6.

The Skyline is a car from Nissan, otherwise known as the GTR, Godzilla, etc, the S Chassis is a Nissan 240sx(Silvia in Japan), and the RB25 is a 2.5L turbo inline 6 from the early 90s that went into the RWD Skylines. They are not as powerful(250hp) as the GTR engines but they are a lot easier to shoehorn into the 240 since they are RWD from the factory and don't require sourcing of a RWD trans.

My buddy is stationed in Japan and owns two (the R32 gen, not the 34 pictued) of these. Offered to sell me one, but I said no. Needed a new car and wanted something reliable. Got the FiST. There are times, though, when I wonder if I made the wrong call.

34 and the first new car I've ever owned. Got spoiled by a B5.5 Passat with a turbo and cannot/willnot go back to NA. What sold me was the episode of Top Gear when they couldn't come up with anything bad to say. I test drove one and it was all over.

Good to see such a broad range of ages enjoying these cars. Similar story on the UK forum of which I'm a member; average is around 30 but the cars are owned by people from 18 through to 60-odd. And why not, I say!
Who's Cossie is that in your avatar, or is it just a generic pic you got off the net??

I'm not one for posting other people's images... it's my baby.
S-W-E-E-T!!! [pray][twothumb]

Any running gear mods (Mountune build, turbo, meth injection, suspension, M-Sport parts, etc.)??

I've ALWAYS loved those cars, and have lusted after them from the very first one I ever spied in pics/WRC coverage/in rags/etc.
I actually CURSED Ford for not bringing those into my country, as it is all but impossible to even 'gray market' them into this land, for ANY amount of coin. [:(]

Ha! If you want to shout me some coin for mods, sure! [tongue]

Basically so far, in the year-and-a-bit I've owned it, it's had some 'safety mods' done. Nothing really done in terms of performance, and truth be told, I'm not chasing numbers with it; I want something a bit cool that offers some fun on the rare occasions I actually get to drive it...

There have been a few issues to iron out - and there are plenty more - but one day it'll get there.

In terms of examples, there are somewhere between 20 and 40 in the Land Down Under. There are heaps more 3-door Sierra Cossies, but they're a far simpler import under our existing laws...

^^^Understood, as they really don't need too much power to be effective/fun.

In fact, I would rather keep the power to safe/reliable levels and try to increase performance by pulling as much weight as possible out of it, as tough as that might be in a car which is already fairly light. [wink]

I AM surprised that they are THAT rare in Oz, since I thought that Ford imported them as a dealer ordered car, given that the market there would have supported that decision.

Yeah, I'm not going down the weight-shedding path; it's to be a weekend toy, not a track weapon. As for quantities, before Mk II Focus RS the last Ford to wear an 'RS' badge was the Mk II Escort. Cossies never officially graced our shores, so pretty much every single one here (3-door Sierra, Saph and EsCos) came in as a private import.

New owner here. I was 55 when I bought it two days ago. But driving the Fiesta makes me feel 26--my age when I bought a 1987 VW Scirocco 16V, my favorite car before this one.

I'll be 61 in November. Physically, that is, I'm still 18 in my mind but my body just doesn't agree. One of the thing that helps with the decision making when buying a new car is the aftermarket support and the community around the car.

I replaced a track only Mustang trackday car with a new Z51 C6 Corvette in 2007. There was a club in the Atlanta area who seemed active, but they never wanted to drive their cars. They held a Super Corvette Saturday every year, but it only consisted of a car show and a Sock Hop (50's High School-style dance). No matter what age they were, they were mentally too old for me, so I got rid of the Corvette and bought a 2009 STI. Lot's of fun, but the interior was junk.

Now that I'm living in the North Ga. mountains near the best driving roads in the state and the Dragon I was drawn back to little fun cars that can be "squirted" along these mountain roads. I've had more fun up here with my old SVT Focus, STI and now my FiST. I'll probably be the oldest out there, but try and keep up!

I'm kind of surprised, but also really glad that I'm not the only chronological 'old timer' on here (turned 61 on Thursday), who is soon to be owning/driving one of these little 'go karts'.

At times it even seems like we even outnumber all of the Gen-Xers, and millennials on here (even though we don't)!
