so here are the weights!!!

The crash bar comes up at more than 12lbs lighter!

The intercooler is 22lbs with poster board on it so that's a safe weight on the heavier side.

Stock intercooler is about 6lbs.

So the biggest intercooler on the market only cost you 4extra lbs on the front end. Take into consideration a few less plastics and parts and its a good package with out costing you a ton of weight.

I don't know what aftermarket intercoolers weight but I would guess that they are more than 4lbs heavier than the stock core so out kit together would make the lightest intercooler kit on the market.

Let me know what you guys think

Russ

I'd say that's as close to an even flush with not gaining any weight. My aftermarket def weighed a lot alot more than the stock one, but couldn't say how much, which i didn't mine because its so much thicker.

That was the goal! I wanted to increase frontal area by 50% with ending up lighter than a bolt on with the stock crash bar.

This means, in the case of my car ( and some other with upgraded coolers), they could actually lose 10lbs+ off the nose of the car, while improving intercooler VASTLY. Wow...

Can't wait to see some of the bigger builds on this, but REALLY, I'm interested the most in seeing how well this setup works on a stock/stock modded turbo. Our little turbos crank out incredible heat, and to be honest, for what its dealing with, the stock cooler is not the worst ever fitted to a turbo car BY FAR. But like I posted in other threads, the ecu actually starts pulling timing at 100degree charge temps, if its 80 degrees outside, how long do you think it takes before a turbo pumping 350-400degree temps raises that charge temp to 100? Not very long.

You have succeeded exceptionally well, beyond what I expected by a great deal!

This is very important for us track enthusiasts that run 20-30 minute sessions all out, huge cooling benefit in the IC and more airflow and barely any added weight.

The Mishimoto IC is the bang for the buck on the lower end of the scale and higher end of the scale in added weight at 19lbs plus elbows, couplers, clamps, mounts, more like 22lbs installed so a gain of 16lbs over the stock IC.

I bought a Cobb, best other IC on the market now, to save 7lbs over the J-Line but still more added weight than your package for about the same price! I offered the early deal on your setup the day after the Cobb arrived, luckily I was able to send it back for a refund. I never even saw it as was away at the time and it is a great IC for those wanting to keep the stock bumper in place.

Your IC is around double the size of the smaller aftermarket units and weighs less than any off them installed with your bumper, thanks for doing this for us!!!!!:):):)

Can't wait to see what kind of performance this thing puts out compared to all of the others out there.

Russ - have you guys done any 'testing' of this crash bar? Just curious how it holds up from a structural standpoint.

Not 100% final but close! Will have logs and data tomorrow some time.

Here is compared to aftermarket intercooler

I need to take the honey comb out but I want data for people that won't do that. Our test car only has a sound symposer delete, turbosmart bov, DHM tune and our race intercooler kit. No other bolt ons!

In for pics with the honeycomb removed after you've done testing. Wondering where the bar will be positioned behind the honeycomb?

It's hard to see. But the bar and top of the intercooler should be visible

Since the top of the bar is where the top of the stock bumper was located it will show for sure and some of the IC.

I removed a good portion of the off the top of the stock bumper beam to allow full air flow directly through the grill, on my last setup.

I put a great deal of time into doing this, if only I had known what was on the horizon I would of waited for the DHM kit!

---------------

I am looking for some kind of decent looking grill or ports I can put in the bumper cover to open more of it up directly into the IC.
