New Big Brake (Rotor) Kit Option

I honestly don't think so. The car is very light. I mean, it probably wouldn't hurt, but I don't think you'll be warping rotors. < side note, floating caliper allows for a lot more of that than a fixed caliper.

It's just the SVT front brakes would be SUPER cheap. Like... $80 lol. Used anyway.
But again, I don't see the need unless you track the car, and in that case, your prob want lighter brakes as well, not just bigger

It makes one wonder WHY (except for costs maybe) Ford did not just give us bigger standard brakes to begin with, or at least a 'Performance/Track Pack' option, with bigger fixed caliper brakes like they do for their other performance cars, since they gave us such huge standard wheels which could fit big rotors anyway. [dunno]

My guess is the same reason we didn't get a back up camera. It's an economy car, at the end of the day. A fast economy car, but an econobox none the less. The profit margin on the additional parts probably wasn't worth it. They knew the aftermarket would jump on this thing like shit on Velcro anyway. And really, it's only the mustang, which has a huge following that has brake package options, that is base or track. The FoST and the RS are what they are too.

I have found stock brakes and pads perfectly adequate for hard track use, rears fine as is and fronts once CMB brake ducts added, no hint of fade during 30 min sessions at Sebring and PBIR. Did all the brake paint and caliper strip temp testing, etc. Caveat is running Quaife LSD is easier on brakes, TVC not invoked as much by inside wheel spin out of turns, but still some.

I doubt TVC heats fronts like braking at ABS threshold from 118 to 20 at Hairpin does. Or 123 to 42 at Turn 10.

On the other hand, you can destroy stock brakes driving long and hard with ESC on.

I'm at a little under $140 right now. Still have to clean up and paint the caliper brackets though. And I'm a little worried the red caliper paint won't perfectly match the factory red powder coated calipers. But... one way to find out.

I think as long as you're not too OCD, it'll be close enough. A few stops worth of brake dust and you won't notice. ;)

Interested to see how it comes together for you. I know when I put disks on the back of my Ranger, I really liked the way it braked nice and level with the slightly increased rear bias. I'm hoping this will do the same, not that I find the car dives or rolls excessively under braking as it is...

Amazing what a quick trip through the sand blaster and a coat of paint will do.

Just out of curiosity, have we determined if the SVT rear caliper does not work? I know we're chasing the bracket to bolt our exising caliper to, but has anyone explored the possibility of just using the entire SVT set up?

Pete, from what I've been told.... the rear caliper is identical. So... no upgrade. Same part# and all... but that's what I read or was told ( #NoSourceInfo ) lol

I'm not so much thinking of it for an upgrade, as I am thinking that it justifies just grabbing an aftermarket caliper for the bracket then just hang onto the caliper as a spare. A little easier to swallow the price that way. I haven't looked to see if they're still available aftermarket yet but I don't see why not.

I'd like to see a Focus RS rear brembo conversion. It's a reasonable price for the calipers I just don't know enough about brakes to know if they have a chance at fitting

Unlikely and would require a bolt pattern change or a lot of leg work to find a rotor with the exact dimensions. There are some BBK options out there already, but the issue is retaining the integral parking brake.
