New Big Brake (Rotor) Kit Option

2015 Ford Connect has 320mm/25mm front and 280mm/11mm rear rotors. They are 5 lug but the size we want. Funny that the rear rotors are exactly the same size and offset as the Focus SVT...

As I stated above the kit that will be offered may not be for the hardened racer.
It does make a perfect set and priced very well for the upgraded daily driver.
I have also found with all of setup of this kind I have done, that going to a two piece rotor was never cost effective.
By the time all the parts are made and the two piece rotors added you are now very close to the price of a Wilwood set.
So do you want to save about $600.00 dollars or 10 lbs.

BTW, the front rotor is not from a Connect, it was ordered by size (323mm) as we were looking at rotors for the Euro Focus RS.

I'm not saying they were from the Connect. I only wrote the sizes of the Connect rotors and stated that the rear rotors are the same size as the Focus SVT...

And I never said that you did.
I was just clarifying.

Sorry, I always get excited about finding ways to save weight but it does not always work out:(

I forgot how much individual parts cost and WW does not make a rotor in 323mm that will fit into the stock caliper between the pads.
The closest I can come up with is a smaller rotor and the hat would take more time to figure out, lowest possible price around $200 per side, I agree, might as well get a BBK instead.

--------------------

For those wanting the big rotor look, and some performance, moderate cost, this will be a good way to go:)

Dave I'm dying over here waiting for this kit! I definitely want the rears as well. I'm having trouble sourcing SVT rear brackets without spending 300 or more just to get brackets off sets guys won't part out to me.

After speaking with Mark just Thursday, production is moving along as planned.
A new set of rotors have been ordered to do a final check for accuracy of the CNC programs.
It is hoped to have the front kit available before the end of April.

As for the rears, you know the SVT brackets have been discontinued and remaining inventory is impossible to get at least at a reasonable price.
For that reason a new bracket is being designed.
This of course will be done but all time and effort is being used to make the front set available.
I have four other projects in mind however the rear brake brackets are the next priority.

Well i decided i cant wait for these to made for another year. So i bought brand new oem pads an rotors for under $300. Im at 51k an im very close to being out of pad on the rears and all 4 rotors have wear. So ill be doing brakes in the next couple of weeks. Pretty impressed with how long the stock brakes lasted in mixed driving.

I think you'll have a whole lot more people interested in the rear brakes...front brakes are pretty much already covered by Wilwood (and brembo and stoptech) and most people who are going to spend money upgrading to bigger brakes will probably get those.

That's the case for me. Those looking for the look of big front brakes without necessarily needing the performance of a better caliper for track use is probably the majority of people, but for me, the Wilwood BBK was such a huge improvement I couldn't imagine going back to the stock front brakes. The rears are holding up fine on the track so far, but a larger lightweight rotor will at least be better for the reduced weight.

Yes, many would like the rears and as I have said that project is being worked on and will be completed after the front kit.

As for the front kits, you would be surprised at large numbers interested in these.
Yes, there are other companies making sets but with such a light weight car the need for a multi-piston caliper is not that great.
It is not my intension to go over the benefits of these other company kits, I am sure we can agree that they are very good.
However, VERY many people that are daily drivers would like to have the benefits of a bigger rotor at less then half the cost of these other kits and are willing to sacrifice a few pounds.
The first production run has already been doubled based on requests.

Bump for impatience, I am starting to head Sico way, overseas shipping and all.
I actually couldn't wait any longer and ordered the kit from Sico, but it's been over a month and it hasn't arrived yet... I contacted them about 2 weeks ago wondering what the deal was and the were super quick to respond and say they were having trouble sourcing the brackets. They did get some and were in the process of painting them red. I may need to ping them again to see what the hold up is.

I don't see how a few brackets and rotors are $450. Yes, compared to other BBKs that isn't bad but when you think about what you are physically getting it isn't a lot. Plenty of brands are making short shift brackets for under $90 which look far more complicated to machine and plain rotors shouldn't be more than $120 each.

How come no one has really came out with an exact price of this so called kit? Or did I miss something?

At $450.00 IF it is in fact $450.00 for this kit, you are half way to a Wilwood front kit, and then you not only get the bigger rotors, but FIXED calipers as well which will not have any pad knock back, besides their even greater clamping force exerted on the rotor, and usually a greater choice of less expensive, high quality, race level pads than the factory SLIDING calipers.

The major drawback is the cost of the replacement rings for the lighter, alloy hat rotors if you stick with them over a cheaper solid (factory type) rotor.
