Mine has the same sound. I was concerned it was more of a lifter tap scenario, rod knock will make a rotational tapping noise that increases with RPMs. I checked youtube and forums but others posted similar video showing the same sound. Some are saying it just our Direct injection engine's normal sound.

okay, then I would say mine is also a lifter type of sound, it goes away as soon as I touch the throttle, but returns once the car is back at idle. its so loud that I have been told 2 times by strangers that somethings wrong with the car. the video does not do the sound justice.

im debating between just leaving it alone until it gets really bad or taking off from work to go to the dealer... I wish I was retired when stuff like this comes up, nothing to do, go take it in and sit around while they look at it. I only get sundays off so its a big deal to go.

Crank rotates twice for every one revolution of the cam. Sounds like a lifter which is driven off the cam.

I'm told, getting to them on this engine requires that the camshafts be removed.

On my old car, this is what happens to the camshaft lobe when you drive on a bad lifter...

It is also possible that the valve seat may be subject to accelerated and/or abnormal wear.
Servicing a valve seat requires that the head be removed and if it breaks-up and/or drops, that means bottom-end work too. (basically an engine)

my brand new 2016 fiesta st has the same noise (just hit 100 miles) It's how DI engines sound. My 3rd fiesta st and they all have heavy idle ticking that sounds like a VW tdi.

Fluidic "diesel" like noises are normal. Getting a varied tap sound that comes and goes in audibility, from a single cylinder, once every cam rotation, isn't normal. If this only occurs after warm-up, especially if the sound moves or occurs in more than one spot, the oil could be thinning out too much.
