My Unofficial Method of Aligning Boomba Shift Pattern............

I was too cheap to buy a heat gun to align the shift pattern on my shift knob........

So I boiled it!

Heat water in a saucepan to rolling boil. Place shift knob bottom side up on a spaghetti spatula and boil for about 5 minutes until its "ouch hot" all the way through. Try not to get any water inside but you can just shake it out and wipe.

Run back to the car and twist it on with Playtex living gloves! It was a hard grip and a 10 second twist. If you can't cook, get your wife to boil it. hahahahah I'm quite pleased with it!

My first holiday cooking. An early Seasons Greeting everybody!

ps: You might want to drench your hand in cold water afterwards. Its no injurious though.
pps: as a disclaimer, please adhere to the Boomba Instructions.

Admin: Could you please move this to General Auto Discussions. I put this in the wrong place.

Definitely an A for effort here! We can safely say this is the first time we have seen an attempt like this. lol. You could have tried a hair dryer as well.

Glad to see it worked for you!

I tried the hair dryer method and was never able to get my shift knob to align properly. I would have to pass perfect alignment by about 1/32 of a turn to be tight without rattling.

I solved my problem by wrapping my shifter threading with some Teflon tape and that did the trick for me. Perfectly aligned and tight.

Just wad up paper and put it in the shift knob until you get the shifter to tighten down to exactly where you want it. Easy.
